so youre saying that everyone whith launchcontrol is a ricer and whants to get noticed ? first of all these limiters are safer for a engine you can install les revss and no fuell cutt duo to cutting the spark signal thats why unburnt fuel detonates in the elbow, but as i said it would be fine if you dont turn gain up to high which some people do because they like they bang bang indeed and yes high gain and overuse can damage but i said that my plans wherent use a high gain, so please stop bashing the limiter now and my choiche to buy one my car its my money Mkay?

My brain hurts due to lack of oxygen. Please say again in some sort of English.

End of the day, you don't need it. Post the specs of your car.

Cutting fuel is a safer fuel cut than cutting the ignition (which is why every car manufacturer does it). Cutting the fuel simply means the spark plug fires but it does nothing. Creates no heat or stress on anything. Cutting the ignition is bad for the turbo and exhaust due to the excess heat and pressure.

The only real use for this type of ignition cut is if you want to build boost while banging on the limiter in neutral, such as in a drag car.

As for whether it's genuine or not, does it really matter? From what I've read, the fakes still seem to work fine. As long as the price was reasonable then move on.

nicely said.

I thought cutting spark was safer as it prevented leaning out and melting pistons?

I have no experience with them but it makes sense. Could overspin the turbo if the fuel ignites in the turbo though.

If there's no fuel there'll be no ignition (as in no bang), so no risk or pinging or higher cylinder temps

Spot on. No fuel = no bang = no heat. And even if you had the tiniest amount of residual fuel vapor in there, it would actually be so lean that that it wouldn't actually cause much heat, if it was even enough to ignite in the first place. You get to a point where leaning out doesn't get hotter, and temps start to drop. Think about it, if you have a big fire it heats up a big area, but lighting a match in the same area won't do squat.

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn
