contact auto sport they may give you the first of a trail of bread crumbs

Given the length of time past since they sold it, I would think the bread crumbs would be very difficult to follow. I am sure that no personal information would be given in any event. I am hoping someone on the forum can update on the car and what became of it. Also interested in the old Joviant built, Kakimoto bodykitted GTS25T too - what became of that car? Are they still about and in what condition?

I've been around since the olden days, and don't remember this car at all. Perhaps it was stolen and not recovered, it did happen to a few gtrs back then?

Hi Duncan, it was really important car at the time. A big hp car built by, a back then, we'll known Japanese workshop. It would be sad to hear it was stolen. Someone must know if it was actually stolen back then.

just a wild theory.

but ironically a search says I may have been on track: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/41500-group-a-gtr/?hl=+macchina#entry851990

Good find. Car still around according to this. Are the key members that commented in that thread with details still active?

not mostly....but Nick (Blitz) who was working for UAS at the time, and who mentioned the theft, is still around....in fact i'm surprised he hasn't dropped in here yet.

I am not sure the details in that thread are for the same car, the way I read it there are 2 cars and the macchina one went missing. Incidentally it may also have been recovered, I know a bunch of stuff from UAS and another NSW shop were recovered in Melbourne around that time.

I don't know it goes as far as saying that that exact car was pinched, the way I read it suggests it may have been. Hopefully, Blitz can confirm. I have also PM'd Iron Chef to see if he knows anything about the car.

It's good to see a senior member of the club assisting in tracking down a significant Skyline.

The video that the car is on is Serious Performance 4 not 3, as I earlier thought. It's old number plate was GTR32T. There is at least a couple of minutes discussion on the car. Another distinctive feature is that it had embroidered onto the black leather seats a very distinctive Macchina Magic logo.

Alex I'll proceed on the basis that there is no condescension in your post above. However, for your information page two of your link has two criteria that mean no dice, namely, nothing pre 2004 and the other is also pretty obvious. Also given the Privacy Act - nothing useful would come of a my.rta search. Someone must have seen it or know something about it. The plate was like that in around 2000-2002. The exact logo posted was on the boot. The car had over 500hp at the wheels, which was a fair bit when it was built.

I think that the people that do know or would know are the non forum type of people. So unless by chance a friend of a friend see's this ur search may be in vein..

I do have to ask what the intention of finding this out is, just curious

I would think that the "they" are no different to the "I". In other words, people that are interested in Skylines (enthusiasts). Plus, given the rather lengthy "spotted" Skylines threads... not too far from this topic. That car was a pretty well known car. The videos it was on are the equivalents of the Motive DVDs of today.

Reason for locating is see whether owner interested in selling.

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
