The simplest way to change a car's colour i found (being a photoshop dummy)

Go to; Image>Adjustment>Replace Color

*Put the dropper tool (which is now active) on one of the car panels and click the mouse

*Slide the Hue bar around to change colour

*Slide Fuzziness bar around for finer tuning for shading etc.

Does any1 use the paint program ''gimp2''. i am having some difficulties in changing the colour of cars.I can lower, add bodykits but i cant seem to do this with this program.

Also with the whole layer thing for the paint programs, how does it go.Am i supposed to have the first layer as the origional and then for every modifycation that i make.change into a new/different layer.

What does the chain icon mean in the layers tablet.

I don't think this has been mentioned but for the novice, novices who want to test out a few different colours to see what their car, rims, engine bay etc looks best in:

PShop CS5

Select the area that you want to 'colour'

go to 'image' and then 'adjustments'

go to hue/saturation

tick the colorize box

Play with Hue then Saturation to get to desired colours

Not the best technique for digital art purposes, but it does quickly answer all those 'what would my car look like if the rims were gold' type questions

Extra tip: when you apply the colour to the selection - feather 3px - 5px so you don't get those sharp edges.
