Welding Kakimoto Exhaust

I have a Kakimoto muffler on my R32 exhaust. I noticed recently that the weld has cracked where the (engine-side) pipe joins the muffler. Is this a basic weld job to repair, or is it special, like SS?

Welding mufflers and manifolds when they crack is always a tempoary fix, if its cracked once it will do it again unless you work out why. Without seeing a picture we cant tell you if its worth the effort.

This is the reason I decided to replace the 5Zigen mid muffler (cracked around the seams) on my car with an Xforce one. I miss the old one :(

Checked a few exhaust places - it would seem that maybe it isn't a Kakimoto muffler, just a Kakimoto tip. Certainly doesn't appear to be S/S.

Anyway, one guy tacked it back together so I could refit it to the car and take it back Sat morning for a new muffler.

iv got a kakimoto cat back on my R33 and its a mild steel.

Starting to get holes in it now from age/rust. Its not worth fixing unless you have a welder at home. otherwise the cost for a place to do it would be wasted as its going to go again...
