Hi,

Got 2005 coupe auto and my insurance is with NRMA for $1750 a year.

Who's your insurance? Mines due for another year of commitment and hoping to find someone lower.

Theres no finance on the car but im a bit hesitant doing 3rd Party.

What are your thoughts and who do you use?

Thanks

It might be different depending on you circumstances and location.

NRMA was the cheapest for me at $750 the first year and then $850 for my last renewal. 2005 manual sedan.

Great! Congratulations!

Remember too that when it comes time to renew, still ring around, since insurance companies will sometimes bump up the premium assuming that you'll stay loyal to that company.

You're welcome!

And another thing...

PDS of Just Car will reveal that if your car needs to be repaired, Just Car will choose the cheapest of their own preferred repairer (unless the one you choose is cheaper still).

If you download the PDS of Shannon's, you'll notice that you yourself get to choose your own repairer subject to the assessor's approval.

Stay safe :)

Additionally, should the car ever be written off, you're given first opportunity to buy the wreck back from them.

I rang around and found Shannons the cheapest too, and having first right over a write off is very important. My V36 is only $1100 a year for $40k cover but it is bundled with other vehicles. The more the merrier....

wow didnt think of that. Always thought that insurance companies always wants the best for your car.....

Nah, insurance companies are businesses with little conscience and even less compassion. There are even unwritten interpretations that you won't even see in a PDS. They operate under law. Do you see the 'ivory towers' they build in the cities? When paperwork was installed into computers, one would expect that computers save space - even require less staff; but no, the buildings just went higher! jk

Stay with Just Car for a year and then shop around once more. My GTRs have been with Just Car, Lumley SV, Dawes, Shannon's and Pharmacy Guild (who've now opted out of grey imports since 2011).

Your good record (or bad) follows you around wherever you go!!!

Shannons wanted $2700 for my taxi spec 35, which must also be garaged at night. No thanks... They also bumped my s14 premium from around $1500 to almost $2000 when I moved out to Bankstown, thats for a car thats always garaged and under limited use policy. Yes I know the area plays a big role but thats just way too much of a price jump

Made the move to LSV, half the Shannons quote and pretty much the same benefits. Dont have any issues chaning companies now, loyalty counts for squat these days

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
