Hey guys,

Anyone know anywhere to get a decent carbonfiber bonnet for an R34 GTT?

I've had a JustJap one, the bonnet latch didn't reach even after adjusting the catch/release clip by making the bolt holes bigger and raising it up. Welded a longer latch on, still eventually blew up smashed my windshield and ofcourse destoryed the bonnet. Shit happens ;) Also once fitted you needed to remove the stock strutbar as the vents sit lower and bow the bonnet.

But I'm after a new one since my stock bonnet has a couple of holes in it from the previous owner. I've found a couple on Ebay, none of sellers have got back to me and I'm scared of fitment buying one off Ebay.

So any websites, or private sellers on here that people have used with no problems would be a great help.

Cheers, Zac

Not sure if the GT-R and GT-t bonnets are interchangeable. You might be able to find second hand on Yahoo, or perhaps you can buy them new. Try contacting Jesse Streeter.

Know where/how I can get in contact with him?

^ that actually looks pretty good, has what looks like the support structure on the underside.

There should be a few manufacturers still making ER34 bonnets (East Bear, maybe Top Secret?) or find someone who has them in stock. Sorry man I'm not much of a help, just trying to point you in the right directions.

Search for "jesse streeter" using your web search engine of choice.

GTR and GTT bonnets arent a direct swap. Need to swap over hood latch and hinge iirc. Plus you'd still have a gap between the headlights. For all that effort, might as well for a GTR front conversion.

Otherwise, GTR style hoods made for GTT is the way to go.

thats where I got the bonnet in my avatar. perfect fit, only had to modify the windscreen washer holes.

Did it fit without hitting the strutbar? That's the style I bought from JustJap and thats one of the problems I had with it

Thank you everyone for your help also!

dont forget to fit bonnet pins, i did mine with aerocatch flush ones for added security

Yeah I have a set off bonnet pins for justjap already, don't want to risk it again ;)

Thanks for all your help guys, awaiting a reply from seibon now for postage quotes :)

I've never seen plugs for them, Although I like the idea! I like taking the try off but it was always a pain when it rained because you have to screw it back on ;)

Just sticking plugs in the vents with the bonnet closed would be decent

    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
    • You have a knack for photography my friend. It makes the 86 look like a complete bucket. The 34 went with you to Europe and back. It's special. (we all feel the same about our 'shitboxes' that every bystander seems to absolutely love)
