eightsixboy
I had an RS liberty sedan for awhile, was pretty modded, 150awkw or there abouts, was a good car, except the gearbox issues . With the clutch don't get a HD, will destroy the box pretty quickly. Mine somehow broke the 1st/2nd selector fork in normal driving, was rebuilt a few years before I bought it and when I stripped it down it was due for another rebuild, the 5 speeds don't take well to hard driving. eightsixboy
Engine had done over 250k but it had the wrx heads fitted at around 120k or so, was a common issue with the rs heads to gunk up, so Subaru would replace heads under warranty with wrx ones, pretty sure they did crank bearings and pistons as well, was a common thing to get done. *LOACH*
Please don't. It is such a cool car you have there, there are plenty of guys with VN-VS Commodores rusting their rooves and bonnets, looks terrible IMHO. Why don't you a go at spraying it yourself. I reckon the pillars and roof done in a gloss black would look awesome, have a go with rattlecans - can't look worse than rusting it and besides which you can always try rusting it afterwards if you don't like the gloss black. R324DR
na don't rust the roof, its not a rat rod! Just save up for a bit and respray the roof, shouldn't cost too much. Good purchase. I've had two of these. They are fun, cheap, reliable daily drivers. For replacing the steering wheel, seats and gear knob, if you cant find original stuff, use early wrx parts. You will be surprised how many gc8 wrx parts will bolt straight in from suspension, brakes, entire drive line, seats etc. If you want help and loads on info on these cars join http://www.rslibertyclub.org/forums/ Heres a pic of my old one for some inspiration.
