Before:- My EVO had a few scratches here and there + particulate matter + swirl marks despite a Grade 4.5 in Osaka

This is how the car appeared before Eugene got to it on a Sat morning.

After:- By Sun afternoon after being picked up from Hornsby Station, my car looked like this...

History:- Eugene has had many wraps before with cars that he's detailed in HPI, Zoom and PG magazines; but personally, he did wonders with a car that was Grade 3.5 > Best Concours at the R34 GT-R 10th Anniversay and Daily Telegraph Cover Story.

Before:- Eugene knew he had a job and a half, to do with this...

After:- And it ended up like this...

Eugene is available to anyone in the Sydney area on 0421141538 but it's best to book well ahead.

Thanks Eug.

Yep, Eugene does/did some work for the dealership that I bought my stagea from.

Needless to say it was very well presented when I bought it, and has made subsequent detailing of the car easier.

+1 for Eugene.

Yes that's him Nick.

One thing I found fascinating about Eugene's attention to detail is the way he goes over all metal panels with his paint thickness gauge to see...

a) if there's been panel repair and

b) how much paint he has to work with.

On the Bayside Blue GT-R, there was a consistent 320 microns.

On the Pearl Black GT-R, there was a consistent 180 microns.

On the Mica Grey EVO, there was a consistent 120 microns except for the front left guard which was about 200.

The omission of any repair on the LF on the auction sheet I guess, is something to consider about Grade Validity.

On the Polar White N1, Eugene only had about 80 microns to play with - *gulp

Polish was devoid of cutting compund.

It could have been so easy to cut through the paint...

Actually, there is far less to play with as a detailer.

The tool measures the whole thickness, where a detailer is essentially working with just the clear coat layer to produce results. The clear coat layer is thin compared to the paint thickness.

I too went over the stagea with a thickness gauge, finding a clean straight car :) The roof and bonnet were however notably thinner than the other body panels.

The goal is to take off the least amount possible. But as far as I know even a fairly aggressive buff will only take off about 10 microns, however, its not something you want to do every 6 months... Sometimes better to leave some swirls behind.

  • 1 month later...
  • 1 month later...
  • 4 months later...
  • 2 weeks later...
  • 5 months later...

Being detailed as we speak. Eugene's final task before Christmas.

A "Before" shot...

but Eugene can show just how dirty this was.

V-Spec II N1

* Eugene has kept abreast of new processes - a sign of a professional who refuses to stop adding to his wealth of knowledge

* New cleaning agents

* New polishes to match is array of pads

* A choice of post-polish coatings

a) quality sealant and quality wax or...

b) ceramic coating - yes at extra expense. But that's best to discuss with the expert.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
