Just had it pointed out to me that my sard reg probably isn't E85 safe. Anyone had one fail? I can only assume that if a lot of you are using a stock RB reg, that an aftermarket one would have a good chance of withstanding problems from E85..

I put the Sard FPR in. I was a bit worried about it at the time hence why i started this thread. Tbh, I wouldn't worry about it too much, It'll be fine.

Like I said, I've had it running straight E85 for a year, no problem.

Had mine for 12months.. Over 10k in kms

Running both 98 and ethenol, no problems

Has been sitting with ethenol in it for quite some time now.. If its stuffed when I start it next month I'll know why

Regs don't flow 'Power', they bypass fuel to hold a certain pressure.

If you can run your desired base fuel pressure with the injectors off and pump running, then the reg has enough flow. Stick a larger pump in, and it might not be large enough...

Sorry don't understand that answer. Bought a Tomei Type L hopefully it's sufficient but still interested in a simpler version of you answer if possible

If your fuel pressure spikes too high you need a larger regulator, it is not dependent on the power your making.

Kind of like the size of a wastegate on a turbo. The more boost your running the smaller the wastegate can be as it is bypassing less air from the turbo to maintain that boost pressure.

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same.     • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
