ssshonky
Hello all.. About 6 years ago I put an aftermarket sway bar on the wifes WC34 Stagea, it was a Selby Swaybar and I am pretty sure we ordered it from Just Jap ( great mob BTW , v helpful ) Soooo .. many years later I hear a clunking noise and get under and have a look at the sway bar and the sway bar link bushes have vanished. Tried Fulcrum suspension who now deal with Selby Sway bars , but they do not have a model number that fits the Stagea, they do a front bar but not a back , so they were none the wiser as to what bushes might fit. Just Jap went to a new ordering system years ago , so they don't have record of the part number either. I am going to post up a few pics in hope that the sway bar link is similar across other Selby Swaybars I really only need the 2 bushes each side on the top of the sway bar link where it connects to the lower control arm. GTSBoy
Just about any generic rubber or urethane ARB pin bush should do that job, Shirley? Duncan
Those sway bars were all custom made by Sydneykid (Gary) when he was the owner of Selbys, so that is why they wouldn't have a number for them. Those links however are not stagea specific so Selbys probably still carry the links and know what the correct bushes are. Just measure the inner and outer diameter of the bush, and how wide it is, and try again with those measurements. If Selby's aren't interested in helping (sound like they might not be if they didn't ask you to measure them), you can try any local bush manufacturer, those are pretty generic. KiwiRS4T
I just got a pair of links from Dale to replace mine - few dollars more than the bushes though... http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/products/KLC109.JPG Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/438506-stagea-rear-sway-bar-link-bushes-for-selby-sway-bar/#findComment-7186347 Share on other sites
ssshonky
KiwiRS4T - yeah they were the ones I was going to get, did they fit your Selby bar ok? No issues? Duncan - I seem to have had a vague memory of "custom " when we 1st bought em , so at least that confirms my suspicions. They asked me to see if I could get a stamped part number from the bush. My problem is both top bushes are totally gone , I am thinking some dirt road corrugations did it I only have 1 remaining bush but I will get under and measure that. As you said probably quite generic. Fulcrum ( who now do Selby ) did send me a link to a bush that they did have , but the dimensions seemed to make no sense. I think I need to get my vernier calipers out and have a measure. GTSBoy - you got any links etc on the ARB page? Pin Bushes was the term I heard from Fulcrum , never heard it before ( been out of the car scene for a long time so excuse my ignorance ) Thanks to all for helping me out , at least I have somewhere to go from here. Looking after my daughter ATM but will get under the car when my wife gets back. If I end up finding a correct part I will reply and let everyone know. Once again Thank you! GTSBoy
The thing is, there is absolutely nothing about those bushes that look different to any other roll bar's end links. So just measure the diameter of the pins where the bush sits, so you know how big the hole has to be, and measure the diameter of the washers that you have left to get an idea of how wide they need to be when compressed, and measure the height of the remaining bushes to get an idea how tall they need to be uncompressed. Then just ask for a bush that meets those needs. FWIW, I would guess that it is more than likely than the usual bushes for an equivalent Whiteline bar would fit. If you have lost the top bushes, have you also lost the cup washers and nuts? If so, then you might as well just throw those link pins in the bin and buy a set of the Whiteline HD links. Much stronger, better design, should fit. ssshonky
GTSBoy - yeah I still have all washers and nuts etc, no problems there. Yeah I am going to get under there soon and do some measuring. Whiteline ones are my last resort Thanks!! KiwiRS4T
You can get the Whiteline links from Dale. The stockers often don't sit quite right although I guess a set of bushes every six years is not too bad! I still have the bottom bushes - threw the top ones away - not sure if they are the same top and bottom but the ones I have show a number: 2092B - 10mm ID, 27mm OD, 17mm high (height approximate as both are quite worn).
