So we all know about the taiwanese/china branded coilovers and there are plenty of threads on their performance.

I've been wondering about the Fortune Auto branded coilovers. They are in a higher price bracket ($1500 - $2000) and seem to have a good rep over in the US (being manufactured in the U.S.A)

They claim to have a larger monotube piston than most Jap/ china brands too. 50mm piston as opposed to 44mm of the more common types, which I do like the idea of.

Rebuildable, can be valved to suit etc etc.

Has anyone had experience with these as an alternative to BC/Blitz/Tein's ??

Was reading about them to. Seem good but only rebuild-able in the States. 50mm piston seems like overkill. Bilsteins are 44 I think and even with custom valving they are jiggly on bad roads. Spring rates would be the concern, I think they were 10 & 8kg weren't they ? Worth trying though.

Standard spring rates for the fortuneauto's - 34R were 12kg F and 8KG R.

Agree that bad point is have to send off to USA for rebuilding. I'm sure good shops around Aus can prob do it though.

I'm not game enough to try them right now, but interesting brand.

My days of jiggly rides are over. Bought a Kia optima for business. I can't go back now. I have felt handling AND refinement all in one. Ok, so it isn't the razor sharp Skyline but damn, I'm going back to twin tube and softer springs. The BC V1's look good.

I know how you feel. Had to use a mighty Hyundai Elantra for a couple of days and couldn't believe how well it handled the bumps! But not a suspension I would want in my Stagea. Ideally if I had loads of cash I would get HKS suspension with the in dash adjustment control.

Get S-Tune spring rates and the dampers matched. Would be good then :)

I did end up purchasing 2nd hand S tune suspension off a forum member. Ride is BETTER than stock V spec setup.. unfortunately right rear shock knocks :-(

sometimes the top strut top nut gets a little loose, check that :)

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
