Rb26 Headgasket Confusion

Hey guys.

Changing headgasket on my 26 for the first time, measured the bore at 86mm but can only find 87mm bore size gaskets, am i able to use the 87mm?

And measured the thickness at around 1.4mm but unsure of the thickness i should be getting, has anyone got any info to help me out? Would be much appreciated!

Go for 1.2mm.

whats the reason for not using back an oem gasket?

Are you using a aftermarket ECU and planning going for a "touch up" tune later on? If you are, why not use this opportunity to raise the comp and give you better twist through the mid range?

I won't run the risk of smashing valve and pistons will I?

Abit of a run down on the car, runs power fc, cp forged pistons, i had the issue of oil in coolant so we decided to do headgasket replace (had tomei metal headgasket on it) turns out the head wasnt even bolted down properly and gasket was blown, the car did produce at 313kw on the dyno at one stage but not now lol

I bought the car with the built motor, it hadnt done many kms since build but the build was 6 years ago, it was sitting in the guys garage

Either do what paul said and bump the comp up a smidgen. Or save yourself a couple of green ones and use an oem gasket

Sorry for all the questions, so the oem one is really good to use? I do run 23psi, it's not going to blow out on me?

It'll take more than 23psi to blow your head gasket!

OEM will be fine if you torque your head properly.
