Copy cat Steve! :P I too use 300V (10W 40 or 15w 50) and Pureone oil filters.

I've been using 300V for 4.5yrs. While it won't stop your ringlands from cracking it sure as hell keeps the rest of the internals in excellent shape! Having been un/lucky enough to view my engine internals I can vouch for 300V. As does my engine builder.

Oh yeah... I does smell rather nice too. I wonder how it would go for cooking fish and chips? :rolleyes:

I think I might try the Motul this time..  

Just got off the phone with Motul, and although they suggested either:

300V 15W-50 or the 300V Chrono 10W-40..

They recommended the 10-40.. bugger only comes in 2litre bottles. How many litres do you need for a GTR RB26?

You use to be able to get it in 5L containers (well 15W 50 300V did anyway) and even 100+L drums! I'm not sure about the RB26DETT but the RB25DET takes 4.7L with filter if I remember correctly. So 3 x 2L containers.

I also use to get a 300V 10W40 2L container for $19.95 - isn't it amazing how the prices rise when a product becomes popular :P .

Sorry to hijack, meshmesh, but I asked this a while ago and no one responded.

Do you have to use a different oil in the transfer case, because I intended to use Redline Lighweight Shockproof (Blue) in:

*Gearbox

*Front Diff

*Rear Diff

*Transfer case

in my 32GTR... or should I use heavyweight shockproof in the rear diff?

4.7L???? Can anyone verify this. I put in about 4L and the dipstick is about halfway. Should you measure the height of oil in the dipstick when engine's warm after letting the oil settle for a few minutes or right after you turn the engine off????

so in the rear diff just use redline 75w 90 not shockproof light...

whats the reason emre for not using shockproof in the rear diff..???

also i used redline mt90 in my r34 gtr gearbox .. works great...

i would keep using nissan matic d or castrol trans z in the transfer case to match the oil in the 4wd pump system...in a gtr of course...

Purely, it's not recommended by Redline themselves. I don't know how Shockproof would perform in an LSD. 75w90 for normal use or 80w140 for race use is recommended.

It's not recommended to use Shockproof in the R34 GTR gearboxes, as the Getrag doesn't like it. MT90 is meant to be quite good for it, but Snowman did his 3rd gear syncro on the circuit using the MT90.

The oil in the transfer case and the ATESSA pump are not mixed. Nissan Matic D is what's recommended from factory. I've heard the usual Dexron III type ATF wouldn't be very good but that's what i've been using for near on 4 years.

used to have mobil 1 and they are great, just want to try something new and hope it's better.

now using motul and nismo oil filter

37% longer life

already spend shit load on the car, don't care another $15-$20 if they can make "a little bit" different.

I post this in every which oil thread:

I believe the best Oil you can use for GTR (and gtst) is Motul 300v series

I use chrono because its closest to the factory specs IE 10w30

A tiny bit thicker than standard but not too much.

Im not the only one who thinks its the best oil for GTR/GTSt, So does Nismo :)

Oh and that oil filter above is awesome! Where can u get them? I cant find them anywhere around here anymore.

I payed $40 per 2L can of Motul 300V Chrono at Autobahn on special order.

Its well worth it, i can honestly say that the 300V has made a difference to the behavior of my engine.. in a good way!

Hi SK, I can't find the SAF-SA; the only diff fluid listed on Castrol site is SAF-XA is this the one to go for in the diff?

    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.  
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack. 
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
