Sedan V36. What Different Between 350 And 370

V36 350GT has a VQ35HR and the V36 370Gt has a VQ37HR.

From memory the 350GT carries over a 5AT and 6MT

The 370GT has a 7AT and 6MT.

Sedans mostly auto.

I would get in contact with Kristian or troy from iron chef imports to get a good genuine low Km from Japan.

My choice would be the 350/370GT SP (sport premium)

350GT was a 3.5L sedan only and was only availble for the first 1.5 - 2 years of the V36 model run.

All V36 Sedans are auto (manual is not available at all in the V36 sedan in any year).

If you want a manual in a V36, you have to go to a coupe, which are only 370GT (3.7L engine).

After about 2008, all sedans were a 370GT.

I think the V36 350GT only came with the 5sp Auto. From what I have heard the 7sp auto didn't really give any benefits in performance or economy, but I haven't heard anything bad about it either.

350GT only 2006-2008 vq35hr sedans 5spd auto only.

2009 onwards all sedans had the 7spd auto box with 3.7l engines

Coupes only came with 3.7l engines. Coupes up to 09 had the 5spd gearbox. After that 7 spd auto. Of course they had the 6 spd manual

7 spd gearbox is 50kg heavier so on short distances doesn't give much better economy. But high way and stuff it does give much better economy.

Interesting. I wasn't aware of this. in my experience the VQ35DE doesn't benefit from better economy with low cruise RPM. I guess the VQ37HR does?

50kg is a fair wack for an extra 2 gears.. the 6sp manual weighs well under 100kg in total.

Yea thats what I thought too with the low rpm, but a few guys has been saying when they do long distance their economy was xx and was better than the 5spd autos.

V36 Sedans in other parts of the world gets the manual gearbox except JDM =(

If they don't have auto levelling headlights and headlight washers, then HIDs 'should' come out during compliance.

I would happily buy a V36 - 350GT if I didn't already have a V35. I think they are priced quite well since many people want the 370GT.

Just keep in mind the example prices prestige motorsport supply are usually based on the exchange rate at the time of the sale, so you will need to factor in the actual exchange rate you will get, which will usually be a bit worse than the current official exchange rate (everyone wants to make their cut).

and prices usually exclude new tyres, RWC, Rego and insurance.

370GT was updated as the sedan from launch with 09 MY. Self healing paint, revised alloy trim, seems like real metal in mine, centre rear headrest, 6 airbags etc..

Major update from 10 MY with complete revamp of interior systems (higher resolution screen) and switchgear (heated seats are rotary not switches), as well as exterior with new grill, bumpers and headlights. Nav also became standard, so no non-nav for Chris to install Garmin into. This is bascially what was the G37 as sold in RHD in UK as 4 dr and 2dr here and many other places..

Very happy with the fuel consumption getting less than 10 l/100km in any kind of freeway trip now, vs 12.5 in the M35 Stagea...

The 3.7 model has some minor improvements in electronics (not very useful in Australia), 7sp gearbox, self-healing paint and some +15hps under the hood. I have spoken to many people with both engine types and found no reason to prefer 3.7 to 3.5, so I chose to bid for a car with better auction marks, type SP and lower mileage, I thought these were much more important. Too bad to see it go soon, but I'll be getting a vq35de bus instead :)

I actually went for a car with higher milage at auction (130k), the savings were amazing, and also less risk of the milage having been wound back in Japan..

I went in to looking for cars with a 350GT '07 budget, and left having paid AUD 500 more for a 370GT '09.

Very happy with that decision...

Back to back driving comparisons of 3.5 to 3.7, the 3.7 does feel more torquey due to the variable lift doing its thing..

hmm.. my V35 manual returns 7s on the highway and in the 10s in the city (11s in summer with AC worknig harder)..

      And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil

      Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.

      Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
