well over 300rwkw, over 6 months and around 10,000kms - stock internals and I havent had any probs. I even had a boost spike to 1.9bar in 3rd gear on a hot summer day, hit red line pretty quick. I was a bit worried, but that was about 5 months ago.

I think it is important to decompress the stock RB25 if you are heading into this teritory - that's what the japs do, and what I did, good fuel supply and a good tune.

JMS R33 used a similar setup for well over 300rwkw, and Danny isnt exactly renouned for his mechanical sypathy.

If the engine is in good condition, you can push them pretty hard, but if it is tired, or been abused by a previous owner (who knows for sure?), you may run into trouble down the track. But generally, it is not an uncommon thing in Japan for RB25s to put out this sort of power on stock internals.

If you have the engine out, it would be well worth upgrading to RB26 crank/rod/pistons.

They are stronger and will drop the CR to 8.5:1 AFAIK, which is where mine is. An added benefit is an extra approx 100cc of capacity, not much, but it all helps:) Plenty of GTRs putting down 300rwkw with stock internals no probs - well, I havent heard of too many failures anyways - unless stupid things are being done (eg, thrashing a cold engine)

If you want to do a full rebuild, why not just drop a 3L bottom end in. In NZ guys have run mid 400rwkw without problems, and you have all that 3L torque, hmmmm:)

I did the GTR rods with my rebuild with Arias forged 1.0mm OS pistons. I got the full balance, bearings, O rings, lightened flywheel, x rays and crank cleaned out and straightened.

I have to say, it may just be the balance and the crank straightening which spun by hand easily when i torqued the crank in (and didn't before), but it felt soooo much smoother afterward. The extra mass of the rods probably limted the ebnefit of lightening the fly.

yer, im doing the same, drop the car off in 2-3 weeks. Just waiting for parts.

RB25 crank (they are fine)

RB26 rods

forgies (not sure what yet)

Reco'd head - no cams

with all the usual balancing/machining etc etc, with my GT30 it'll go quite nicely.

If you were to go the 3ltr, you'd need a GT35 to make the most of it...

yeah' date=' 25 block, 26 crank and rods, forgies, cams, thats me  QUOTE']

This post seems to contradict this one .........

I want RB25 cred

It is hardly an RB25 if it is stuffed with RB26 internals.

well, rb25 still stanped on the engine number is what i was referring to. I am building the motor to suit me, not anyone else, i cant compare with the sub zero boys producing big kws in there gtrs n supras so dunno if its going to stand out much.

    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
    • That's one of the reasons I got that breed, they look weird, the other reasons are they small, they are very vocal, and run around like they are on crack, I didn't want a breed that just sits around, these two are like kids on red cordial  My daughter has one, and it's a laugh riot, constantly doing Parkour around the house, sits on her shoulder, plays catch, and constantly runs around the house taking turns chasing the dog around, her Bermese though, just lays around with constant bitch face, and just looks on in utter disgust at the cat and dog playing together
    • I'm getting PTSD flashbacks seeing that name again.  With my turbo swift, I got 1,500km of street use on a Jim Berry clutch before it exploded and took out my input shaft with it.
