Hello I have researched fuel pumps and have come down to a couple I am looking at.

Does any one know of the quality of Detschworks fuel pumps?

I am looking at a Walbro 255l or a Tomei 255l or the Detschworks 255l and maybe the Bosch 044.

With the Walbro and Bosch 044, are they hard to mount to the r32 gtst-t fuel pump cradle?

Do I have to buy the socks seperately?

Which ones which be a good choice?

None? :P

You need to start by letting us know your future power goals, and whether you plan to run e85 one day. Personally I would be shoving a Walbro 416L e85 pump in there, or the Walbro 255 if you want to save a few bucks.

Socks come with the pump.

PM me if you would like some price quotes. ;)

I want to aim for 300hp first and after that go for as close to 400 hp as I can with good response.

I have a rb20 with stock turbo, full turbo back exhaust with sports cat. return to stock piping fmic, and will put on a boostcontroller soon and maybe a rb25 turbo. I live in Japan so no E85

Tomei pump. I've had mine for years. Easy to install, has the sock on the end, nice and quiet

But it does depend on HP you are chasing?

I would like Tomei but it is last place right now due to price.

As above, pretty much any new pump will be fine. I have an 040 in R32 running 25Neo at ~350 engine HP and it's fine. And it's old - I put in in many years ago.

As above also, the Walbro 255 would be a fine cheap choice. But being in Japan maybe one of the Jap tuner brands like the Tomei one would also work out acceptably priced.

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
