Hey guys,

My suspension is just about to die. i would like to upgrade it to something a little more sporty.

I don't want anything too stiff it is my daily.

So far i have found two kits that say they fit. anyone have any experience with either of these kits.

Tanabe - NF Kit Coilover

BC Racing Coilover Suspension Kit

Also quite inexperienced with suspension.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jerry,

I have the Tanabe Sustec NF coilover on my M35 Stagea (this was already on the car when I purchased it).

If I had stock suspension, I would be going for the BC based on other owner's recommendation. The Tanabe NF Coilover is not damper adjustable and is more suited towards comfort

Thanks guys I'll order them today.

Does anyone have any idea how much they will cost to get fitted?

Most places will charge $500 and upwards to fit & set heights. This would also include a wheel alignment, and possibly corner weighting.

The reason is; most places will have to do a bit of trial & error to get it right, so it will be up and down a few times once the shocks/springs are fitted to ensure everything is hunky dory.

Ok time to get rid of the stock suspension.

Man the car drives nice but I think my 95 Camry wagon had less body roll.

I think my springs are fatigued ,14 years old if they're the originals.

Looks like BC's are a good choice from all the +1s

I've driven 4 M35s, 2 of which had Nismo springs, according to the owners.

The ride was much more direct, still comfortable too.

The springs were yellow progressive. I'm not sure what spec these were as the S tune are red.

The S-tune are advertised as 20% stiffer.

Anyone know what the BC BRs are %.

I've also noticed quite often people are selling their S-tunes.

It would be good to know what people didn't like about them.

Also looking for some solid sway bars.

Anyone still making them for 250t RS Four

Any input would be great.

Cheers

Yellow is what I have, they were a nissan factory option that lowered the car 2" from stock. I would say your issue is more the shocks the springs, but if you are doing shocks you may as well do it all.

$500? I had all that done at Bridgestone in nz with a second free wheel align a month later for $180 and it didn't budge after a month of heavy testing lol

It's good that they did that for you; but in my experience in NSW this is a pretty standard charge.

Over here, it's pretty normal to pay $90 just for a wheel alignment.

Even just the removal of the old, and install with no adjustment on a set of coilovers would take at least 1.5hours, and at the average $90-$120 p/h that's still a decent expense.

Adjustment would be at least another hour on top, so I still stand by my estimate.

How do people find the BC Spring rates?

Ive been looking at the TEIN Street flex and they have 10k/9k front and rear respectivly, and at the moment RHD Japan have them discounted and put them at the same price as the BC

http://www.rhdjapan.com/tein-street-flex-coilover-suspension-nm35-pnm35.html

For a little bit more than BC's, I would recommend talking to Josh at MCA.

They make an excellent NM35 specific product that can be sprung and valved to suit your specification.

    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
