Hi guys, just wondering what are some good options for an R32 GTR turbo upgrade (based on your experience).

Car is a 1992 model and I soon want to get rid of the stock turbos.

Current Mods:

- Trust intercooler

- HKS hard pipe kit

- Alloy 52mm radiator

- Aftermarket front pipe into aftermarket 3" cat back exhaust

- PowerFC with hand controller

I was looking at some 2860 -7...just need other opinions.

My future goals for now is around 260kw atw on low boost setup. With a responsive turbo spool.

Preferably around $1,200 budget.

Thanks.

-7's will get you just over 300kws

-9's is the SAU preferred

look at $2500 plus fitting

Ps. Keep your standard camshaft but get some cam gears.

if you want to do it on a budget look out for some second hand t28 silvia or pulsar turbo's. these make a good upgrade and if you are patient you could probably pickup a couple from those guys who have upgraded their stock ones.

that $1200 budget will get you a set of 2nd hand -7's pretty easily.

Swap them out yourself and - I can't believe i'm saying this - run the car on your current tune while you save for a re-tune.

A fuel pump would also be a good idea

Thanks man, yeah that plan sounds good. Saw a pair of near new going for $1200.

I snapped my -7's up for $1100 a couple of years ago. Swapping them yourself is a bit of a pain but it's doable. While your at it, find yourself a set of R34 dumps if you don't already have after market ones and you'll be well on your way to 300kw.

    • Bit difficult to follow. Have a look below and see what the standard R32 layout was like. Note there was a restrictor in place immediately before "turbocharged pressure control solenoid" that, if removed, magically got you 1 bar boost.
    • I might be way off the mark here.. there must be a T junction under the manifold. That takes manifold pressure through a check valve prior to the T, one side splits out to this bleed off orifice, the other straight to the wastegate actuators.
    • Carrying out some engine due diligence before my first drive in a 260RS that has been in storage for 10+ years, and found two lines that are susposed to be plumbed into the boost control solenoid. One of the lines (the wastegate boost supply line) to actuate the gates, had a bolt in one end blocking it. The other line (main boost signal line) from the very rear of the intake manifold (RB26DETT) and runs up to the boost controller had this pill in the end of it as seen in photos. Other than the obvious (T28 Ceramic turbos might well be cooked)  Can anyone shed any light on if there is any validity at all with this mod, bleeding a constant fixed rate of manifold boost pressure off through this 3mm hole?  Is it deliberate?  Was this a 90s Jap mod done to RB26's? Or has someone just fitted this without any idea of what happens to ceramic T28s if they are not gate controlled?
    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
