Hey everyone, my names garreth and i'm an avid skyline fan. Just wanted to say that my best mate is doing a yr 12 media project, and it's basically a car movie with drags and lots of cars.

I just wanted to know if anyone is interested in getting their cars in some sweet footage. Our first day of filming was on Saturday 26th and we had a total of about 80 cars throughout the night. It was awsome fun. So yeah just wondering if anyone is interested...

Post up more details of these "drags". If they are held in 100% legal then I'll let this thread stay, otherwise it'll be removed. We don't condone or support the promotion of illegal drags, wether to help out students or otherwise. You have 24 hours.

then this message and ur computer will self destruct...

dun dun dun dah dah dun dun dah dah

doodee doo.... doodee doo..... doo dee doo.... dun dah!

lol sorry its late and im working and very VERY bored.

Yer, please let us know what type of footage.

If its all legal you'll have no problems getting 30-40sky's along with some of our help

I'll let you know that if your filming illegal drags... you'd better not hope some of the cars owners find out or you might find yourself in a sticky situation... Just some friendly advice :)

lol dont worry guys...this is 100% legal as Calvin here can tell you

i wouldn't condone anything illegal anyways...but yeah last saturday basically we had our main actors line up and launch against each other. Everything was performed in a controlled environment, lol and don't worry serious-seven we had a 250 thousand dollar S- 15 down there which was basically in need of a canary, but since it was in a controlled environment, everything was kewl.

My mate and i contacted the traffic control unit for Victoria and we closed the street of (legally), we then contacted the police and told them of what we wanted to do, they said it was kewl (again still all legal), and finally we told Footscray police on the day, and the senior constable said it was all good, so nothing illegal involved. They even legalised out burnouts.

The movie we did on Saturday was basically a demo to let everybody know that we are quite serious about cars, and we aren't just a couple of stupid teenagers looking for a thrill ride.

lol hey calvin, yeah its slowly coming together, hope you enjoyed urself on the night

and remember..its all 100% legal, enjoy...

I can vouch for G-SPEC, as the last fiiming was done in an control and organise environment. hey G-SPEC, my mate just got himself a 03 HSV clubsport (sad, he sold his R33 for this?) do u want me to talk to him and try to get him to come down for the next shooting?

yeah calvin that would be good...(i cant believe he did that)

yes it is a legal environment dude, and the street we chose was good because on the night there must have been about 3 cars that actually needed to drive down it...all other cars must have found a detour.

Our filming is just bascially gonna be focussed on like a 'car meet-up' theme. We just need lots of cars. Check out the demo movie...thats what the first day of filming looked like...that was the street we used

We will probably use that again

It didn't appear to be a very 'controlled' environment, people were standing around on the sides of the road...

Forgive me for being cynical, but I honestly can't see Police giving permission for this type of thing... do you have any insurance? What happens if there is any damage to property or someone gets injured?

It didn't appear to be a very 'controlled' environment, people were standing around on the sides of the road...

nah i understand if you are a bit sceptical about the whole thing, and no i don't have any insurance, i am still only in yr 12, and i don't have a car yet. But it's your choice to believe what you want.

We controlled the event as much as we possibly could, given the fact that we had contacted the police and that all filming was done under controlled conditions. If you still don't understand what i mean by this i'll try and summerise for you.

We contacted the Traffic control unit for Victoria and told them what Brendan's idea was, and we said that we just wanted to make sure that everything we wanted to do was done the legal way. We told them that we only really need them to legalise our 'burnouts' on the night, because apart from that nothing was really illegal. All the launches you see in the demo tape are actually quite slow...so no one was in any real danger of losing control. We kept the cars under about 80 (or 60) at all times. We then contacted the relevant people from Victoria Police and asked them if our idea was ok, and we told them that we aren't the type of kids who just want to go out and do stupid ass burnouts.

In terms of the crowd, we did as much as we could to tell them to not venture onto the filming strip, short of tieing them up. We told them time and time again not to step too close to the strip (and most of the time they did listen to us). you see i had no idea where else they were going to stand apart from the sides of the road.

Yeah Blade it is a nice place (though the road needs to be fixed up a bit), the HOT 4's photo shoot was done there about 2 and a half months ago...

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
