Dunno about that, most of the 86's I see have stupidly sized wheels, lowered to the bump stops with all the camber for hard parking meets.

Then the ones that try to drive fast with TC/DSC off end up as parted out wrecks at Import Monster

^I'm not disputing that, in fact, I agree. Most people destroy the awesome handling of our cars.

I'm just pointing out that a standard Excel wouldn't out-handle, nor pull away from a standard 86 in a straight line. One is an older, FWD family car which accidentally happened to handle well. The other is a newer, RWD, proper sports car with a lot of R&D that went into the handling of the car. It might be a little bit slow, but it's not that slow. And in the hands of a good driver (ie. you) they do wonderful things.

lol relax guys, but yeah. Honestly, it was no doubt a crap driver but I did killed him in the 2 hairpins before he did a loser flyby on the straights.
"It don't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning's winning." :P

But since then, I've been really curious how my excel on lowered king springs actually compares to the 86.

I was hoping to have the Skyline back on the road so I can come and watch and help out. But it's looking like it's not going to happen.

Do you think they'll let me plug the LEAF into an outlet for a few hours to top me up so I can get home afterwards?

Buy a petrol generator from bunnings and strap it to the roof... Unlimited range!

You might as well just drive a petrol vehicle then since you're still using petrol.... what you might want to do is strap some solar panels on the roof. Unlimited range anyone?

Hey guys,

I've entered and paid for this event but I'm going to have to pull out as my car needs it's mechanical gremlins from Phillip Island sorted out once and for all before Round 2 at Winton so it will be off the road until then.

How do we go about getting someone else to fill my spot for this? Also what happens with the entry fee that I've paid? I'll probably still come along on the day for a while to spectate...

Hey guys,

I've entered and paid for this event but I'm going to have to pull out

Same here

Do I withdraw via this post, email motorsport or via the entry site?

Aim is to still free up some time to assist.

    • Wife wanted basket things in the wardrobe in our temporary house. Thought about ripping our the wardrobe and fitting the entire IKEA set, but it's a temporary house and we want to move in a few years. So IKEA advertises this as a 50cm unit, however the actually basket and rails measure 46cm wide. Only issue was depth, IKEA stuff is quite deep, where as the builder special junk is super shallow at less than 40cm. Send it, chopped the rails, then offset the mounting holes, job done, happy wife, less shit scattered all over the bedroom. Did the same to the other side too. Also drove the Skyline shit box today, dropped off oil at Supercheap Auto. I didn't realise they only now take max 2x bottles per visit. I visited 2x Supercheap Autos.
    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
