GT-5732
Hi All, I have read up about similar issues on the forum but still unable to locate my problem. My stag has a miss at idle and in high rev range but not too bad though the middle I have changed coils and the car comes good for a day then back to missing again. Plugs are only 1000km old gaped to .8, new AFM. I have pulled the plugs out and the drivers side look really good but the passenger side look a bit black compared to the drivers side. Please help, any ideas? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/454380-m35-stagea-missing/ Share on other sites
Lakes101
Check if the vacuumed line in connected to fuel regulators both mine popped off and caused a similar issue a while back 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/454380-m35-stagea-missing/#findComment-7490029 Share on other sites
zelda
Yeah I'd probably check all vac hoses man or just replace whatever ones you can, silicon hose is cheap and rules that problem out.. Equilibrise
I've had similar probs in the past. what mods has the car got? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/454380-m35-stagea-missing/#findComment-7492267 Share on other sites
Equilibrise
Also, check for error codes. Could be Cam pos sensor on left bank if there are no related mods like ecu piggyback, coil packs, etc. Which plugs did you put in? I used NGK Iridiums LFR6AIX-11 but gapped down to .8I have checked for codes but there is nothing there... It feels like a timing issue to me...I have swapped out the rear sensor on the left bank. I use LFR7aix, but a stock M35 should be fine running the hotter 6's. The plugs I use though are already gapped at .8mm, and I run mine up to 40psi without a problem on the original 14 year old coils. Any sensor issues will be quickly picked up by the ecu and a fault light will be displayed. What the ecu doesn't know is if you plugged the coilpacks in the wrong order for example. It's very easy to mix the front plugs up, try swapping them around. Ok swapped out the plugs to the old ones (LFR6aix-p) no change, the front 2 coil plugs can't get swapped on mine as there isn't enough length in the plug wire..... ? scotty nm35
On the passenger side? The rear two can be mixed up then yeh? It's the coils where the plugs sit back to back you need to worry about, I have seen them mixed up many times, sometimes it's even my fault. 2 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/454380-m35-stagea-missing/#findComment-7492841 Share on other sites
GT-5732
checked again Scotty, but I was able to get any mixed up with my Stagea as the length of each plug will only go to 1 spot. I did change 3 of the spark plugs back to the old one and it seemed to make a bit of difference to the mid and top end, i will change out the other 3 this weekend coming as I don't have the car with me. I'm also replacing the PCV valve too see if that make any difference to the idle. I have been also thinking of do an injector clean, good idea??? I'm thinking it cant hurt to do it.... If anyone else has any ideas, they would be greatly appreciated. scotty nm35
I can send you a refurbished set of injectors if you like, but that probably won't be the issue. You can most definitely mix up two of the plugs on each side, the ones that face each other where the plugs are nearly touching. Try it out before anything else... GT-5732
I swapped over the plugs but it only just reached....you can see in the pic the front and middle are different lengths, the drivers side could get mixed up. I'm really starting to lean towards injectors Scotty if can pm me about the injectors you have, that would be great, unless any other ideas Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/454380-m35-stagea-missing/#findComment-7497606 Share on other sites
scotty nm35
On the passenger side it's the middle and rear you can mix up, as they sit opposed. I always have refurbished stock injectors on the shelf, I will PM you. GT-5732
ok yep, i swapped them around, no good. i pulled the injectors, all good nice and clean, flowing nice. i was having a listen to the exhaust and i think there might be something loose there and when the turbo comes on i can hear a different noise i havent heard before, im also using more fuel then usual, im going to have a look into the exhaust this weekend coming. could be a blocked exhaust all along..... i love solving problems but i hope i can solve this soon cause its really giving me the shits!!! lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/454380-m35-stagea-missing/#findComment-7502320 Share on other sites
