hey i just got pulled over again and this time they must have heard my bov so they called a traffic cop to assist cos he was supposed to know whats, i played the "i dont know anything card" but when he said my boost controller was a bov as well as a boost controller i told him he didnt know sh1t so after he threatened to get his pen and paper out and start to write down everything wrong with it shut up, anyways i dont wana remove the bov cos i would have to weld up the hole in the fmic piping so i want turn it to a plumb back but i need the plumb back adaptor for a turbosmart type3 ss, if anyone has one please let me know or if anyone has any ideas how to make it plumb back another way that would be good, i got the stock parts but it would be a pain in the ass to do the bov

For sale section or buy from a turbosmart dealer. There are going to be no 'other' ways to make it plumb-back that are going to be easier then buying the right adapter and hooking it up. The adapter will cost stuff all (probably $30, if I could get a Greddy one for that price I'm sure turbosmart are close)

Rule number 1 when pulled over, act resectfully to the police, act dumb (dont know much about cars), and hope they spot something basic on the outside to write the ticket for so they dont open the hood, thats the sort of defect that can be easy to clear as in most cases being too low of having tyres sticking out of the guards simply means presenting the car to Vic Roads (or whoever is the equivalent in your state) for a inspection to clear just what got written up and nothing else.

My sons been done for having tyres out of the guards twice and (too) lowered once, all 3 times put stock parts on, lady comes out and looks, sees stock height or wheels, defect cleared, aftermarket parts bolted back on the moment it got home, Hwy patrol are constanly looking at it now, we are starting to think they have gven up as im sure the previous defects show up yet the car is back as it was and all they do is stare now.

Think of being pulled over as a bit of a attitude test.

You need to plumb it back, your not allowed to vent to atmosphere, its a simple as that now.

yeah thanks for the advice, that is very good advice. Yeah i will plumb back the bov if i can get the adapter plate or i will have to put the stick one back on and as for the dual stage boost controller im a lil bummed out about having to remove that, the dumb ass only knew to look at that cos its bright blue and looks obviously aftermarket, i seen that i can put the stock one on and ground the wire to keep it in high boost but thats only 7psi and i want the whole 12 that it can take safely, so i was thinking about going a 12psi actuator that can simply replace the stock one and then i can paint it black and put a nissan sticker on it just in case so it doesnt stand out. Does anyone have one for sale or know where i can get one cheap, and are they pretty much generic fit or do i need one specific for the stock r33 turbo?

Why not buy a discreet boost tee, some black boost line and hide the boost tee where you cant see it? If you think you only got caught because it stood out, then hide it somewhere better.

I think the R32 GTSt actuators run about 10psi. Honestly though, without an aftermarket ECU I wouldnt bother running any more then 7psi. I ran 10psi in mine through the stock ECU and it hit R&R badly and just wasn't real nice. Even when I got boost to the right point where it would run till redline, it was still not great. Did the high boost mod to the standard boost solenoid and running around 7psi again it seemed so much nicer.

My advice, take it or leave it. Save some money, buy an ECU with in-built boost control (Link/Vipec etc, even the PowerFC can do it with the optional boost kit) and get it tuned. You will be amazed how much better it runs, and if the tuner is good you will get better fuel economy and so on

yeah i am so i would have to remove aftermarket one on the fmic and have the hole welded up and then i can put the stock one back on the cross over pipe and plumb it to the intake, unless i can track down the plumb back adapter for the aftermarket one and then i can just simply plumb that one to the intake. Its a pain in the ass lol

the original is a metal pipe that goes straight into the rubber air intake hose on the turbo and the other end just uses a bit of rubber hose to join the metal pipe to the stock bov, thankfully i still have all of the stock parts

finding right size hose proving to be a little difficult but may be able to modify original pipe to shorten distance to front mount intercooler piping where new bov is located & 35mm hose is not real flexable lol

if the hose from the plenium to the bov was blocked would the bov stay closed permanently, or would pressure in the ic pipe force it open sometimes?

i thought about fitting the stick bov back on in the stock location and leaving my aftermarket one where it is and then finding some kind of valve so i can run the plenium vac hose to both bov and have the valve set so i can direct the vac line to goto whichever bov i want at the flick of a switch, as long as the bov that isnt turned on doesnt open at all.

I hope i have described this right

That's a bad plan.

The pressure from the plenum is required to keep the bov closed while on boost

Seriously. Just run the stock one, or buy an aftermarket plumback one and plumb it up. If you really want to change the noise (this is the only reason I changed mine, because I don't like the stock BOV noise, not I wanted a hektik sound) then you can still change it with a plumback, and get none of the drawbacks of an atmo.

It's not worth the trouble of defects and getting harrased all the time.

    • An update regarding the registration with the DVLA I sent off the paperwork the day after I collected the car from the port, two weeks later it was all returned with a letter explaining they have rejected the application. This was because the cheque was £20 short for the road tax (I used a price list I found online). Nevermind it is what it is, it was sent back to them the following day with a new cheque. Fast forward another 2 weeks or so, I called them for an update to be told it had been rejected. Yesterday (16th September) I received the documents back along with another letter, this time it was because I didn't put an X in one box on the V750 (personalised number plate certificate), which declared that I had the rights to the personalised number plate. Why this wasn't mentioned in the first rejection letter, I don't know, but it could have saved this headache. The documents were sent back today, so fingers crossed third times a charm and it'll FINALLY be registered on the road just in time for the bad weather (woohoo!) To cheer myself up I lowered the front 25mm, was sick of seeing it sit like a monster truck. No idea how much clearance I'll have getting on and off the driveway, I'll worry about that when I can actually drive it
    • You're going to miss not worrying about rust in the strut towers like the Skyline shitboxes out there
    • A few little updates that weren't filmed due to not taking long to do or not interesting enough for their own video. My new K&N Air Filter arrived, I went with an RU-4180 which matched the dimensions of the universal cone filter the car originally had.  The battery had gone flat, while that was charging I tidied up the spaghetti wiring at the bulk head and down the sides of the engine Next job was to swap the stereo The Kenwood harness had the female ISO plugs cut off and the male ISO plugs cut off the adaptor loom and joined with bullet connectors. I ordered in a repair loom through work and re-did it all. New Kenwood unit installed (Android Auto, DAB, Bluetooth, Reverse Camera) The bonnet/hood gas struts have been poor since collecting the car. I couldn't find any suitable replacements locally so took a chance on a pair from AliExpress.  The originals don't use a retaining clip to secure the cup onto the ball fixture, would explain why I struggled for 10-15mins trying to pry off the cups. The ball fixtures unscrew using a 12mm spanner, new ones are the same size. Sadly no photo of them fitted, you're not missing much lol The dished Momo steering wheel got replaced with my Momo Tuner, turns out I ordered counter sunk bolts for the horn trim ring (like they normally are for the steering wheel) instead of allen cap (flat seat)  A terrible photo of a Quaife style gear shift knob I've had stashed in my tool box for many years after purchasing the incorrect thread size (I can see a pattern emerging with ordering incorrect parts...) Also threw in a cup holder and a (empty) Boss Coffee can, because why not  
    • GT-R clearly the better choice! The 300 is certainly not insaly fast but has a decent amount of poke. Does a nice little drift around the corners with a decent amount of throttle. It's VERY predictable in a slide too.  Feels so progressive! People probably presume there's a 25 year old driving it based on my behaviour this week! 🤣
    • Yeah Jap import. Fairlady Z then! I'm a bit the same.  They've been on my radar for a fair while but then just impulsively decided to buy one!  Was going to just buy an NA and add turbos to it later but decided to save the f'ing around and just buy the turbo version.
