What did he expect.

If you won't flush out the fluid regularly, your gear box ain't going to last long no matter which type it is!

And majority of the time, no one will want to spend that much on transmission oil, so they keep it as it is and sell it off as it is to the next unfortunate dude/gal!

Simple circle of unfortunate.

My advice would be, only buy 60k kms or less Y34 Gloria/Cedric or GT8's!!!

That way you know the gear box would be fresh for another 60k kms normal driving after a flush would be done by you!

This thread has made for an interesting read lol.

I looked at a GT8 about 4 years ago when I was shopping for a new car at the time. In hind sight, I'm glad I didn't buy it as if something went wrong with it, I would have needed a new wife as well as a new car!

Don't know about your GT8 beating a 370GT though, rolling start or not. Not unless you had a LOT of work done to it...

About 45 more than a stock 350GT-8. At the flywheel, so probably about 35ish more at the wheels.

Edited by sonicii

Impossible, nothings faster than a stock 350 GT8, I hear they have a special gearbox that makes them unbeatable in all forms of motorsport.

lols.

Can I run the transmission lines into an aftermarket radiator?

Or are there supports (called buns or something like that?) to run current lines into the stock radiator?

Isn't it like 20%-30% power deduction from Flywheel to rear wheels Greg?

Anyone got stock Dyno specs of the 370GT 6MT please???

And the only thing I wish my 350GT had was the Twin Air Intake like all sport cars should have! :(

And I can't fit the Extroid Box into a 370GT shell!!! :( Just sux...

Difference between 45 and 35 is about 22%, so yes. But I just pulled those in figures out of the air, I'm not sure what the actual figures are.. Drive line losses will be less for a 6MT too.

So if you're free, we can do my challenge on M1 Northbound? :)

Really........ Morons like you are the exact reason Skyline drivers cop a bad wrap.

In what part of your delusional world is racing someone on the freeway ok.

I'll make sure none of my family are on there for the day, unfortunately that just leaves the rest of the un suspecting public to deal with you.

Seriously......................

For $60 you can go to WSID on a Wednesday night, and drag your car legally as fast as you can go. They even give you a bit of paper that says how fast you went so there is no bullshit guesstimates of 1/4 miles.

Paul, grab a helmet, and go. Post results.

Any street racing is very, very frowned upon on this forum, and frankly idiotic when there are such easy, legal, ways to enjoy your car.

If you go all the way back to the early days of the v35 section, there is a thread where someone in a GT8 could only manage a 15.1 quarter mile. Considering stock V35 coups are running low 14's, and V36's are running high 13's, you would be outclassed. There is no way in hell a GT8 with a bolt on exhaust would beat these cars.

And the post above is right. It's not a smart move to post details for a prospective street race on a public forum. And even worse if you would even go through with it.

I have a GT8. Nice car. Gearbox is a pile of shit. I used to have a 400+hp S13 many moons ago. That was fast.

The torque that this box puts out makes it fun to get around roundabouts or overtake etc and the seamless transmission makes it to feel fast.

The gearbox is shit. In any form of enthusiastic driving - it is shit. I've had it around the track and in really spirited drives and FFS that box is unreliable. After about 5 min, the box just gets slow and doesn't shift anywhere near as quickly.

Also, stop talking a big game. The older guys who've been around the traps for ages will see and call your BS and refuse to help.

Do they run their transmission oil coolers through their radiator tanks like all 4x4 do, or is it a stand-alone unit as well Trevor?

I am driving up with the HSV NSW Car Club to Williamtown Airport Museum then onto Junction Inn Hotel @ Raymond Terrace today from Thornleigh McDonalds, 8:30am departure. So if you're free, we can do my challenge on M1 Northbound? :)

Second stop will be at Twin Caltex/Servo Garages @ Warnervale. Departing @ 9:45am.

Why don't you look at your car ffs?

You will instantly see if the trans cooler is in the bottom radiator tank, which is a 99.9% probability, as all autos run the trans oil through there, not just 4wds. Then put a decent trans cooler on there following any guide in the net. Just cos your box functions differently doesn't mean it is cooled differently.

Mine has an external transcooler? Looks factory as well.

I was in rant mode so wasn't very clear, sorry about that. Heaps of cars have external trans coolers. They also run it through the bottom rad tank.

All he needs to do is out a larger cooler in place of the existing one or ad another one with it. By looking at his car it becomes very obvious.

Yeah. All good. Makes sense. Pretty much what i have.

You mis-understood me Ben.

I was asking Trevor if his manual 6MT had a transmission cooler from stock.

Which he never replied anyway.

But I think manuals don't use any coolers or lines into their radiator do they?

Underground Racing 'YouTube Channel' GT-R versing all other sport car models in Russia.

Best compilation on YouTube!

It's where & when, that it becomes 'ok OR NOT' to do.

It's all crap that speed causes all accident if you believe that.

Even cops were polled saying that only 20% of the officers believed that speed was a factor (that was said on tv last week).

How about testing road users for drugs rather than Alcohol only?!

Roads would be much more awesome & safer!!!

Easter break 1 in 6 were done for drug driving!

And you calling me dangerous on the road yesterday, good one Trev.

I never touched any of that s**t & never will.

There's gym for the highs!!!

Manuals don't need cooling as they don't generate much heat so there are no cooler lines.

There is also no fluid/oil pump in a manual, so nothing to push the oil through a cooler anyway.

It is true that speed is a factor in only 20% of crashes. The other 80% are caused by d*ckheads like you behind the wheel. Take it to the track, have respect for other road users

Yeah good try Rat (1984 Chinese Animal).

That's why my last driving crime on the road was on 1st Dec 2010!!!

What's yours??? Lol

    • This sounds very old of me, however since buying the Tiguan shit box, my view on shit boxes have changed.
    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
