We've got a Autech 260RS at the mo.

They run elec Hicas simialr to a R33 GTR, but different.. under the rack as opposed to on the back.

Motors out for forgies, turbos etc at the mo

Excellent, what size wheels and tyres does it have?

I'd be keen to see a Stagea section, and I'd be just as keen to see a Stagea in the flesh - I wouldn't mind buying one in the future if they're nice and practical... I'm sure the section will become more relevant as the Stag becomes more popular (and I hope this is more an issue of "when" rather than "if").

They'd make a nice sleeper.

Has anyone seen how good they look with R-34 GTR mags on them? Brisbane Street Machines have a dark blue one for sale, and the wheels really set it off well!:

Pics please, SydneyKid

Nick T.

Its got the factory Autech wheels on it. +35s on the front and +20s on the rear.

I'll get the exact rim/tyre size tomorrow.. you can't go very big on them unfortunatley as the guards won't allow it. ;(

Factory kit, wheels etc with a inch or so taken out of ride hight.. looks cool! ;)

Will post some pics when I get time.

Few liitle mods we've done to it like R32 spring in the transfer case.. = RWD on demand. r33 has a percantage of drive tot he fronts at all time which means cooked cases with the the fuse out.. R32 spring allows it to be 100% RWD

No problems, Nick. It is supposed to be on the transporter tomorrow. A few days in the panel shop to touch up the scratches and paint the white door blue. Thank's to the totally illogical DOTARS beaurocrats.

did you change the door with the different intrusion bar???

i think stagea should have its own permanent thread... i had put that in suggestion section ...before i found this thread...which is my point really

we need our own ...please

did you change the door with the different intrusion bar???

Yep, found a white one the same as the other 3, except the car is blue. In trying to find an upside for spending $1K for no good reason, the only one I can find is gives me an excuse to fix up a few of the little scatches and bumps a 7 year old car picks up. While the blue paint is in the gun, so to speak. :uh-huh:

Thanks to DOTARS I have had to replace a rear door with stronger intrusion bars that complies to the later (tougher) standard, with a door that complies to earlier (less tough) standards. I don't know about you, but that makes absolutely no sense to me.

Enough bad news, the good news is it is on the truck and will be here early next week. :D

No one has the crush test ADR 29 for the later model yet...which means another stagea ..later model will have to be destroyed...

their farkin mad :headspin:

SK, my friend has just brought in a red '97 Stagea. It has stock R33 GTR rims on it, I'll try and get a pic of it :)

I'll post some pics of my 97 blue stagea

stock wheels

K&N panel

stock exhaust

stock suspension - bilsteins & springs soon (anybody got info on springs)

2 sunroofs

satellite nav (useful if I ship the car back to japan and drive it around there

No compliancing issues, from MJR Motorsport in Brisbane.

Is sydneykid doing his own ??

Was going to get the NEO version, but was worried about DOTARS compliance as most people were doing the pre NEO versions. I was glad I didn't go for the NEO as it would probably still be in the shop.

Very pleased, comfortable sleeper. A bit slow off the mark but 100-140kph acceleration is very good indeed. Just needs

firmer suspension

a bit lower

decent 17" R34 wheels would be really nice (any offers ?)

decent exhaust (3")

decent intercooler and a little bit more boost (10lb)

would like 160KW at the wheels, but will need more mods

cheers

How wide are the Autech wheels, I have a couple of sets of 17 X 8's as they are the same as we use on the race cars with 245/45/17's on them. They should fit, OK?

No, definitely not doing my own compliance. The paperwork (and dealing the beauroKraps) would drive me crazy. :headspin:

Have you had yours on the dyno yet Michael? I am wondering how much they loose through the auto and 4wd.

My target is 200 awkw :burnout: , I have ready to go on;

GCG ball bearing hi flow turbo

Split dump

Hi flow cat

3" exhaust

Autospeed (Norgren valves X 2) boost controller

Pipercross panel filter

CAI

Exhaust camshaft pulley

Plus .............

Konis (as soon as I work out if they are R33 or R34 or neither) :boinkcar:

Front and rear stabilser bars (I think the R33 GTR ones fit).

I will design up a HICAS eliminator and get our race team fabricator to machine one up out of billet aluminium (same as we have on the R32's).

SAFC from Negun is on its way.

Hope the brakes are up to it, if not I will dig up a set of R33 GTR callipers (front and rear) and a set of DBA slotted rotors. Plenty of good pads lying around from the race cars, that should stop it. :aroused:

I am getting carried away, aren't I? :jump:

    • Actually, that's not entirely true. It's also the same motor in the 1st gen Nissan Cube but they're rare as hen's teeth.
    • Yeah it is always worth testing and balancing actuators out of the box, just set the pressure regulator on a compressor very low (eg 5 psi) and increase it slowly to see when they both move.....unfortunately while you may be able to adjust the length of the actuator rod to minimise any difference, the actual pressure they move from is not adjustable so you need a well matched pair. And yes, the VCAM is probably contributing; the earlier in the rev range they come on boost and the slower the revs build (I think your demo was in 5th), the more you notice it.  Driving at WOT through 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc you will probably never hear it as any shuffling starts and is over super quickly
    • oh they were with that motor, you need to remove the engine to change the spark plugs (don't have to, but it does make it easier)
    • I certainly fall into the annoyed camp, but glad to hear that if it's happening at low boost then I'm not likely going to blow a turbo and end up with metal shards in my oil. Just feels like it prevents me from really driving it without hesitation and "peak" performance. Wonder if it's the VCAM, it did an impressive job of shifting the torque curve and faster spool, but maybe now it's "too fast" and there's too much air for how open the throttle is.  Based on some other threads, will also do some reading on synchronizing the actuators. They are the default actuators that come on the Garrett's and I would think they would be set the same coming from the factory, but if the turbos don't actually work exactly the same way at the same time as previously mentioned, it would be worth making sure the actuators are actuating together properly
    • I went down this rabbit hole before, ended up sourcing a motor from the UK (I'm in Japan) which also didn't function correctly. With the original motor, I disassembled it and reassembled it and it works somewhat, sometimes. What I could deduce from all my screwing around is that there is calibration of the gears on the inside of the motor and two ramps on the main gear which activate switches that operate the motor and move the sunroof either to retract into the roof or tilt. Where I got stuck was that, it seemed in my case that one or both of the switches that are activated by the ramp on the gear did not always activate and thus the motor did not move, causing it to sometimes not retract or tilt (apologies, I've forgotten which way it didn't work.).  Of course this part is discontinued at Nissan now, it's the same part in the S15 but no other models. I also contacted the manufacturer of the component for schematics - forgot the name, they're based in Gifu - but they declined to share the information due to being bound by an NDA, sadly. Looking through my pictures now, it seems I last had a crack at this in 2022. See, I so kindly wrote "open" and "close" next to the switches. If you figure it out, please do tell me. Those little switches, with the red buttons may need to be replaced.
