From page: "Fixed digital speed cameras have the capacity to measure speed in both directions."

yep... they can *measure* speed in both directions.

Doesn't say anything about being able to take your photo from front on.

I'm not trying to be argumentative. There are privacy laws in place, also safety issues with "FLASHING" a driver from front on.

wil..

it depends on whether the camara was angled to also accomodate oncoming traffic. Cameras can take photos of oncoming but ive never seen it happen to anyone i know.

I guess the only thing to do now would be to wait an see if you get a nice letter in the mail in the coming days....

If so, then a can of spray paint and a sledgehammer should do the trick to ensure no further repititions...lol jk :P

Hmm.

I think someone on this forum said they are getting front ones now.

Oh well. I think the main thing to remember is if you look closely the majority of cameras (I'm only speaking for the ones I've been past/seen in NSW) don't have the piezo sensors on the opposite side of the road.

Food for thought for new south welshmen (and women).

Although in the end - don't wanna get caught don't speed.

i dont know about NSW but in victoria (i could be wrong) motorbikes dont have front end plates, only on the rear... and all the speed cameras in my area (besides being valdalised) dont seem to take oncoming photos, but i dont think testing to see if im right is a good idea

  • 2 weeks later...

hey, my sister just got caught speeding in opposite direction to the way camera was facing and in NSW.. also heard of another case where the camera was facing them.. so they must be coming out!! as i always thought it was only from rear.. but im careful with any camera now no point risking your licence!

Very different in WA!!

Ive been flashed 3 times... i think

Everytime the camera was on the left between 10 and 20 meters ahead..hidden behind a tree... a bin.. even in a bus stop OMFG

They make sure they get u in the photo so if you deny the fine they have evidence of who the driver was

and also half blind u at the same time so as ur breaking trying to control ur car, u hit a curb and total it just for fun!

viscount - i know stuff like that pisses you off especially when your car is new. At least that your wheels are just the stockers.HAppened to me with my avs rims. ****ing pissed me off. I got so pissed off that i drove back in there with my falcon, and guess what? it was not possible to drive out without scraping the kerb. I guess unless if you have a mini or something, everyone scrapes it.**** those carpark designers

But sierously dude, i've tried to keep my car in immac condition, but i know that it just cannot and will not happen. ****ing dickheads with shopping trolleys, jealous people with keys etc...

Good to know about the speed cameras though, i've always wondered what happens if someone drives past me fast in the other lane.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
