Hello,

Just moved to Australia (QLD) from Okinawa Japan and I was able to successfully import my 96' GT-R 33 under the personal import rules. Well, I say successfully, but it was damaged and vandalized at the wharf (My welcome to OZ moment). I have been going through the thrash of learning the differences with things here in Australia (fuel, oil, GTR parts, etc.) and hope that you guys can be a help to me, and I can offer whatever assistance I can.

I have owned this GTR for 5 years and the best thing about bringing it to OZ as a personal import is I didn't have to 'stock it out' before it left OKI for compliance. So it is built and tuned, although I would like to get it checked out by some reputable dudes who know the RB26.

If you guys have any bones to throw my way about shops, Brizzy to Ipswich area, a good place to find parts, it would be much appreciated! In the meantime, I have been getting everything sent to me from Japan, but it would be nice to cut the wait times down when I can.

Welcome to Queensland, very sad to hear your GTR was vandalised.

Depending on the parts you want will depend on where you go. Kudos Motorsport are good for local parts, amayama if you want genuine parts and can wait. Also aftermarket parts are often cheaper to buy in Japan and ship over than local shops.

Hope to see you at some events.

Gavin woods at Labrador is a Nissan specialist with lots of experience,

probably the most honest and genuine guy you'd want touching your RB26, he owns and drives a 33GTR that was used for Targa Tasmania, there's a lot of workshops in Brisbane that will rip you off big time, don't take the risk...

I never saw any comment, none of us have mod powers so it must have been one of the site mods.

I didn't see a comment? Our only mod is rarely here anyway so he wouldn't have removed it?

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
