Have been doing a bit lately.

Mainly Project CARS as the AI is very ordinary and drives too dirty to have a clean challenging race.

Would like to get into RaceRoom Race Experience but haven't bought any content for it yet, AI seems good enough for a challenge as well.

Reminds me a lot of GTR and GTR2, I guess that's to be expected seeing as Simbin have had a hand in it's development.

Have rFactor 2, not finding it as exciting to get into as the original was though so haven't really been able to get into it. Maybe I just need to find some good cars to run in game

Waiting for Assetto Corsa to come on sale on steam and I'll grab it as well.

Keen to get back into iRacing again as they have recently updated tyre models so apparently it's a little easier to recover from moments. I'm yet to get as much feedback from the track through the wheel from another game yet.

Safety rating system went a fair way to stopping people from acting out when they have a spin or from driving Gran Turismo style, although private servers do that as well I guess once you find a good bunch to race with.

use iRacing with SAU and thats about it.

Project Cars would be good to into online, but im having fun with the career (even if the AI is disruptful. you just have to get in front of them!)

Assetto Corsa is on-sale now, but i wont be jumping on it. car list is pretty average, though UI and track/car quality is good.

Wreckfest is Destruction Derby reborn. havent had a server with decent ping yet, but its awesome fun. and has single player.

Just bought Assetto and the DLC pack for under $50AUD on the steam sale.

Had played it before in the release state (prior to the big patches) and wasn't overly impressed but I turned a few laps at Mugello today in some GT cars and wow!

I like the feeling you get through the wheel a lot more than Project Cars! It's obviously not as pretty in some regards as pCARS. I think both have their strengths and weaknesses.

iRacing IMHO is one of the most over-rated simulations

Yeah we know, you keep telling everyone.

There's an SAU iRacing championship. You can always get a short-term trial and jump in. If you don't like it, try something else.

Assetto Corsa has mods you can add to the game for extra tracks and vehicles.

The community has made some import cars such as s13 silvia, 180sx type x, r32 skyline, honda nsx, nissan s15, mazda fc3s rx7, and a nissan 240sx.

There is also a few australian tracks now such as eastern creek, surfers paradise street circuit, adelaide street circuit & barbagallo raceway.

In answer to your question Anon AC, rF1, GSC, all with many Aussie and NZ tracks and Aussie V8's too. PC once I get some glitches out of my custom pedals, Previously have owned and played (still Do some of them) Pole Position, F1 '98, GTR2, GTR Evo, DiRT 1,2,3. Monster Truck Madness 1 & 2 and many other offerings from GT & Endurance cars, to Rally and Hill Climbs, some good, some bad and some that should never have been sold as a "Simulation" .

I don't see GPL in that lot, Mozz.

Say it ain't so...

RFactor (the original one) has an R34 GTR patch.

Also lots of Aussie tracks including Lakeside, Amaroo, Bathurst (the 3 I've driven IRL) plus Eastern Ck, Surfers (old one and the street track), morgan pk, warwick farm, wakefield, Symmons plains, Darwin, Camberra, Melb GP, Townsville, Winton, Longford, Calder, Oran Pk, Phillip Island, Sandown, QR as well as a host of NZ tracks. Best thing is they're all free - no stupid monthly fees just to keep playing.

    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
    • Does that German restaurant still exist in the old place out the NW end of Goulburn? When I say "out the NW end of"...I am really being vague. It was 1997 when I was last there, and the only point of reference I can recall is that it was on the opposite side of the main drag from the big merino. And when I say "opposite side of the main drag", I don't mean "on the main drag". It was either a couple of streets back from there, or might have even been out in the sticks a bit further. Was an old farm building or mill or somesuch. And when I say "the big merino" I might actually be thinking of a completely different part of town, because I just looked on maps and the big bugger is not where I remembered him to be! The food was good, consisting largely of various German mystery-meat sausage/loaf things and kartofflen.
    • So while the second sentence is completely correct and the whole point of the conversation, the first sentence bears consideration. If this bloke is just hoping to throw big turbos on and drive it around, because there are no helpful facilities at all in his tropical paradise** then he likely has zero chance of even knowing what the TP is on the last column in the stock maps, let alone know whether the ECU is operating anywhere near it or past it. So the point is very very moot. And, per what I said before, at stock boost on those turbos, you may well be off the end of the map. **I'm just back from Vanuatu, so I know exactly what small Pacific nations can be like wrt paradise without requisite facilities. But it's not even that simple. I put a high flow on my car and had to drive it around without a proper tune because of the lack of opportunity*** to put the bigger AFM and injectors into it to allow it to be tuned. I had to turn the boost down to less than I had before, and back off the boost controller's ramp, because it was exploring parts of the map that it didn't drive in before, and really couldn't access for tuning on the dyno either, and so was pinging. It was still well within the last column, because when I first**** set up the Nistune on the Neo I rescaled all axes of the maps to give some more space to explore. ***Family dyno was broken ****This was 13 years ago, and the TIM thing wasn't a thing then and so TP would definitely grow when pushing past the stock tune's limits.
