Nissan skyline r32 gtst speedo isn't sending signal but works ?

It's making my power steering heavy because it's not getting a signal.

Is there anyway to fix this

What sort of modifications have you made recently that could contribute to the failure?

It was working fine when I took it out because I had to change the bulbs in the speedo, after doing that and putting it back together I turned the lights on and some in the left corner of the speedo (fuel gauge) didn't light up, later I went for a drive and about 30 seconds of driving my power steering went heavy. The speedo works all good apart from the bulk behind the fuel gauge. I borrowed a mates speedo cluster and put it in and my power steering worked without a problem
