  • 2 weeks later...

Ok finally have the Greddy FV BOV fitted, but wasn't straight forward.

First Nengun have kept me hangin for 4 weeks so purchased a local Subaru one, which is longer with the rubber o-rings.

I kept the Nissan one for a jig, clamped the new one to it with a 30mm pipe holding them symmetrical.

Drilled through to correct the mounting bolt centres then dry fitted.

Had to keep reaming to get them perfect.

The adapter plate was too big and hits the intake pipe on the inside edge, so had to grind out a bit off the edge to get it to centre.

Luckily this adapter has rubber o-ring seals on both sides otherwise too much of the flat surface was compromised.

I had to grind a chamfer all the way to the o-ring

The Nengun adapter has a cut out on one side and might fit better.

This BOV has a 40mm dia valve as opposed to the 22mm Turbosmart.

Finally got the adapter fitted, then the BOV doesn't seat as it hit the OEM mounting bolts.

The heads are too big, so had to grind off one edge plus a tad off the bov itself.

Started it up, and idles beautifully..

Finally you fitted it.

Just curious why your greddy bov doesn't come with adapter? I know greddy do bolt on bov for M35 and the adapter should be come with bov together in one package.

Hey quespionage- that blue vacuum hose. It's not the spongey redline performance stuff that you can pinch and cut off airflow to is it? I'm assuming it's at least 3mm id from the pipe... just asking

na, it say Samco on it.

4mm id , feels ok.

I replaced the split stock line to the boost-t with the 1 mm restrictor in it.

Finally you fitted it.

yep you can, but its around $400 and only available overseas.

I picked up the bov for $150 delivered + $32 for adapter

Mmm, got boost leak so will need to use gasket sealant.

Still haven't tested it out properly as the weather is so bad .

Got more pigeon sound though than the Turbosmart with the soft spring

Why have you invested so much time in a poorly fitting, and obviously poorly built knockoff BOV?

BOV looks genuine.

Didn't know it was going to be a bitch to fit with bolts clashing and clearances.

I don't see it a waste of time as I enjoy tinkering.

Especially if it works better than the Turbosmart.

    • Impossible to remove the housing while turbo is installed on the manifold on the engine. So I have to do it anyways. I plugged it so there will not be any debris in there. Will vacuum aswell
    • would a r34 gtr hood line up with gt/gtt stock fenders? after latch, front bumper and hinges are swapped for gtr ones? or would the fenders be too low or high in relation to the hood surface? ( I believe seeing somewhere that gtr front fenders use some type of riser for the sides, but do not know how that relates to stock gt/gtt fenders.)
    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
