Man just when you think you're seeing the end of the need for cash spent on a GT-R you come across a thread like this?!

The GT-R was made to race right? It's a race car. I can't believe I've had to do so much to it to get it to be a race car!!!

Brakes: Definitely suck on my R32 GT-R and I'm still trying to get them to bite. I've resorted to ordering Racebrakes's best track pad at $710 a full set (damn it).

Intercooler pipes: 1st track day, no boost restrictor and the driver side intercooler pipe blows off. It's a common problem apparently and happens all the time. WTF?! I have spent $880 on replacing all rubber pipes with a full HKS piping kit and invested big cash into an Apexi boost controller.

Tyres: Yoko Grand Prix DNA tyres are no-where near good enough. I have just put on a set of Dunlop's best tarmac rally semi-slicks. $1500!!! Ouch but damn are they sticky or what?! Makes the car feel tight and small like driving a little mini now! :)

Noticed my oil temp going up high last track day so I just bought an HKS Oil Cooler Kit w/Remote mount: $800

And now this sump baffle stuff?! Argh! All the cash I am making is going into this car which I only drive on track and the occasional weekend. Am I complaining though? Well yes... a little but damn I love my car! This GT-R's a keeper. What an amazing machine!

Hi Justin, that's why I built a GTST this time. The brakes that weren't so good on a 1,600 kg GTR, work great on a 1,245 kg GTST. The oil surge that was so hard to fix on a GTR was never a problem on a GTST. The $2.5K clutch is now a $1.3K clutch. The transmission oil cooler simply isn't necessary when you only have 2 wheels to drive. Instead of chewing out a set of tyres per meeting it's now only a pair. The very tricky to set up 4wd suspension is so much easier now, it's a simple rear wheel drive I can do in my sleep. I didn't have 3 diffs to upgrade, only one. etc etc

The only time I want the GTR is when it rains, then a 600 bhp GTST is very tricky to drive fast. :headspin:

HELP , what susp does the R32 run, i dont want o bolt in a monster engine only to never be able to crack the throttle wide open.

Of course i want to be quick at club sprints but i dont need to be the quickest, but i want the car to be faster then me and challenging to drive so my driving continues to improve...

Speaking of Excel's, I drove 1 yesterday for the first time... couldn't even overtake a semi-trailer on the freeway pos !! Had to put my arm out the window and slap it like a horse to get it up a hill grr !!

you think thats bad ben, I'll lend you the Datto sunny wagon I'm cruising at the moment till my R gets here in november. hahahah, I can't overtake a kid on his scooter at the moment!

I have purchased sump baffles from UAS for $395, they are the TOMEI ones for the GTR. supposed to be $450 but the sale was on when I got them.

as soon as the car arrives it is being shipped to the workshop and is getting a full service, the motor is coming out for the baffles, check the clutch to see if it needs a new one (can someone reccomend one for a daily driver? nice easy one) and the usual, all fliuds and filters, plugs, timing belt, water pump etc

no point in taking risks I say, the service and compliance with all the fitting should be around 3600 I was told, but I think its worth the risk. I like track days and the occasional dawn run so this shuold be ok

    • Oh, I forgot too, all the multimedia stuff captured and sold through things like people playing Pokemon Go. Pokemon Go specifically, can actually be traced all the way back to a CIA investment company too. So yep, they're watching everything. Not to mention the new stuff where they've worked out how to use WiFi signals to be able to map occupants inside of a building. That one would be something that I see being more used in public/government buildings, as you need to understand the signals when the room has no one in it first. It's not as easy as Hollywood would like you to think it is.
    • Followed ☺️ Assuming those are NEO rods, then at least 400kW all day.
    • Lets keep this going , Spotted this very stock V35 in Penrith and also saw a nice R32 FLY past me on Castlereagh rd , sounded really good.
    • Great work! Give it a clean up with some Emery paper, and I'd run a thread die over the threads too to clean them up. It will make reinstall much easier, and also life easier for the next time it needs to come out.
    • I'm not a fan of high humidity, it's one reason I don't mind being further inland out Ipswich, except the last 3 odd years, the drought broke, and it won't stop raining, which is making the humidity nearly unbearable when the rains are in during summer! For me, my body hates the cold, once the cold sets into my body, I'm totally screwed. I end up with severe muscle spasm in my back/shoulder muscles, and it feels like someone is trying to tear the muscles out. I have no issues with it getting stupid hot, so long as the humidity goes away. So the last 3 years as above, have been woeful! Ha ha. However, June 1st, and I'm only just converting from shorts and a tee, to long pants and a t shirt. And that's mainly as it's a bit wet and miserable and I wanted to work on a car.
