Got an N1 block. Need to complete with my stock engine parts

Recommended Posts

Ok. I got hold of an N1 (24u) block that has been bored out to 86.5mm.

I want to see what parts I can use off my stock engine internals. I know about the oil pump and steel exhaust impeller. I just want a stock N1 build. Not high horsepower. Just a reliable stock engine.

What can I put in and what should I not put in and get new?

Measure the crank. if you have a stock engine and the new block has been bored you will need new pistons. You say now that you are not after big power but if you change your mind later you don't want to be pulling the engine out again so get better rod bolts and balance the whole assembly. You'll want a new oil pump water pump and cambelt tensioner and now is a good time to do the harmonic balancer.

There lot's of guys running stock rods with upgraded arp bolts but like Bob said definitely replace the oil pump. To be honest though, why go through the hassle and paying the machining to have a stock internal engine again and only to be slightly more reliable then stock? If your only after stock power then certainly a just a unopened well maintained rb26 will do you fine.
