This is my story and how I got to own my dream car.

I was once a youngen and always loved playing car video games from a very young age. At that point I knew there was something about them that always made me happy. My parents always told me that they wouldn’t want to see me driving one as they’re for hoons and bogans. Well here I am. I told them I always liked skylines, there was just something about them.

So as I got older I started to get more into them and getting more obsessed.

I couldn’t wait until I got my license, i had the usual shitty cars just to get me through.

I went to many car shows as it was getting more enjoyable and I still didn’t know a lot about them but wanted to.

So after many years, at the age of 20 I bought a gts-t type m. I just wanted one. I didn’t care at the time. It was my dream to have one. I told myself that I’d give it 10 years to finish it as a project. I only said that as my family didn’t want me spending all my money on cars. Thy got over it eventually though. I had lost my license for 8 months as I just bought the r32. Waited and waited until I got it back as I just wanted to drive it for the first time. It was the best feeling to drive it. But ended up getting pulled up on the second drive. Didn’t know a whole lot about modifying at the time.

But I wanted to do crazy stuff to it.

So after some thinking, I left my shitty job to find something better and get more money. I did, I worked at a car wash for a year and a half. The first 2 months I was there I bought a body kit for my car.

It took just over 7 months to get the paint and body work done.

It’s got a custom Midnight purple 3 paint job. Had wheels but ended up getting rid of them to get something even better.

Had the panel work done a couple of times though as I wasn’t happy with it the first time. Sucks but hey I’m pedantic.

At this point I was still unsure of what had to be done with it to make me feel better about driving it.

So my mind thought about something crazy and getting a crazy engine package to try and compensate for the body work.

So I went to a Raceday in Queensland and just wanted to test its limits and see what I wanted in the car before I make huge changes.

After 3 laps I had issues, piping popped off and it was rubbing rather sick.

Got it towed off the track and had the front bar ruined by doing so.

Matter agt I was pissed. But that’s life and cars are an endless money pit.

I ended up losing 18k through a company that was suppose to have given me a built block. I was furious at that stage and made sure I chose wisely on who I get to do certain stuff for me.

So it sat for months at ends and did nothing. 2.5 years later after owning it I was getting eager to just get the engine started.

i removed the engine and sanded down the engine bay. 1 week later I had almost finished sanding it. Mind you it was after work every night.

I wasn’t sure what colour to paint it. So I stuck with my body colour.

I was happy with the outcome.

So in that time I had my rb26 getting built by a really good freind of mine that has a super good engine building business. For those of you that want to know. “G&T performance engines”.

I asked for something super grumpy, but top quality and to hold up to 1000hp. So that he did. And my god he does a great job.

I ended up getting my covers painted in a really awesome purple. At this point I was thinking it’s going to be one mental street car when it’s finished.

3 years later I feel like I’m actually getting somewhere. M

I wanted this car to look beyond beautiful and have spent so much money on trying to make everything on point. My aim for this car was to make it show car worthy, drag worthy and street used as well.

I’m currently looking to buy some wheels to be able to get traction. Somewhere in the 11” fronts and 13” rears.

Currently about to get nitrous hooked up to be able to spool the turbo up. At least it will help at roll racing.

The motor consists of

fForged bottom.

Race ported head.

custom electronic throttle carbon fibre/billet plenum.

Hks t04z turbo.

Trigger kit.

Amd many other goodies. When I’ve got sometime I’ll put all the details in. Just so busy with work.

    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
    • Perhaps the answer is... more jacks!* *proper jacks must be used.
    • I NEVER think about using a scissor jack unless there is absolutely no other alternative. f**king things are dangerous, annoying and stupid.
