Experience with Performance Plus in sunshine for tuning?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I’m thinking of upgrading my R33 GTR with bigger turbos and need a good tuner closer to my home in Caroline Springs so was thinking of Performance Plus in Sunshine where Nismo (or Nisma whatever works) once was. Any one used them for tuning before and how was the service and was results vs cost descent?

I usually get my car serviced and tuned at Chasers when I lived closer to there but now it’s getting a little far.

By the whatever happened to Nismo anyways? Sorry guys I’ve been out of the car scene for a few years after getting married and having kids.

Thanks

Alex

Don't know anything about them but you have a GTR, it's worth travelling to have the car tuned, travel within reason shouldn't be a factor imho. For a GTR you can't go past racepace, live, breath and eat gtr/rb. An hour worth of travel that will definitely be worth it.

If you were happy with Chasers and they are a little bit further away then stock with them.

Don't know what happened to nisma but going to a place because it's simply closer does not work out well for most people.

Thanks guys. It's not that I don't want to travel a bit more (although it is part of the equation), I like to try new places and have heard descent things about Performance Plus. So no one has had GTRs tuned here?

Chasers are pretty good. If you want someone who just deals with GTRs especially r33's it will be worth the drive to go to race pace. I've been to a few places and race pace hands done shits all over the other guys. I retuned my car there and they got an additional 30kw at the wheels with less boost. It's running 370kw at the wheels now.

I take my cars to RacePace. When i'm not around (which is starting to feel like always), I tow truck it to them. It's only about $100 from the city, so factor in another $50 from your side of town. The tow truck driver doesn't even need to know how to start it, as long as he has access to the interior (to release handbrake, and pop out of gear).

Gareth and Chris at RacePace have been excellent to work with and explain everything down to the last detail. It must be annoying for them as every customer must start at a similar point of knowledge and Gareth and Chris must both spend half their lives explaining the same things over and over. Would recommend 10/10.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
