GTSBoy
Hydraulic lifters do go bad. But that's just it. It's usually the lifters, not other parts that wear out, unless the lifters have been left bad for a long time. Slap
For someone as new to this as you....Start with a pod, stractors, zorst, ecu and tune. Most benifit will be the tune. The other will open it up for the tune. Oh and a manual transmission. In time after research years .... and some more knowlege maybe a cam. Then its to boost and at this stage the higer head flow is important and vct with dohc will be shid loads better than sohc when setup and tuned correctly lots of setup lots & lots.Dont open your motor. You do not know enough yet and may regret it big time.Goodluck hope you can pump the rb30 up a bit. Its all a bit of fun.Doing lifters atm myself. So i plan on rebuilding the top end of my rb30e out of a 86 r31. I want to a bit more power and economy. Is it possible to achieve that by keeping the cam stock but replace valves and porting the head? I plan on getting the stock head flow tested so i compare the difference. Not sure how i should go about it. I plan on talking to an engine builder, aswell as reading forums and books for knowledge. Yes i am a rookie when it comes to internal work If im thinking to far ahead, let me know please 1 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/477232-rb30-cylinder-head-work/page/3/#findComment-7907024 Share on other sites
Diko31
@Slap thanks man, ill just stick with those basics for now! Im doing a manny conversion very soon just need to buy new master and slave, cause i aint trusting used ones, and a gearbox mount. Thinking about modding the original cause im not too keen on a single piece gearbox mount! I have a spare rb30 that im pulling apart atm,ill be putting it back together with new bearings and rings, (atm its purely to educate myself on rebuilding rb30s and hopefully its not much different from any other engine except different specs) i know ive got alot to go before i know my shit but you gotta start somewhere and its best to start wrapping my head around everything now rather than later! Thank you for your input man, i appreciate it! 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/477232-rb30-cylinder-head-work/page/3/#findComment-7907028 Share on other sites
