Hello All,

My engine is being mildly built at the moment and want to address the oil setup. I am thinking of doing a 2stage wet sump pump setup, one feed and the other scavenge.

The scavenge I want to use from the back of the head drain to assist in getting the oil back down to the sump. Anyone see any issues with this setup? I'll be buying the 2 stage pump from Aviaid.

Thanks,

Brian

You can have scavenge pumps with a wet sump, there are a number of production cars that have a wet sump with a scavenge pump. As for where you put the scavenge pump I would imagine you would want to pump oil primarily, so it would end up being somewhere like the turbo drains or an engine block drain somehow. The "head drain" is really more breather than oil drain, although the distinction gets a bit wibbly wobbly in cases where oil is getting stuck in the head due to excess crankcase pressure.

    • Ha ha ha, that's fair mate! We have the crackhead dogs now. Mainly because the missus wants the crazy dogs while she still has the energy and capacity to be able to keep up with them! Ha ha our current two are both Working GSD, there brothers and sisters (from the same litters) are in Police, Corrective Services, and I believe one did end up in defence force too. They're wild and fun, yet right now, both curled up asleep on the lounge room floor while we watch some TV. Mal is very likely the next dog (unless I get my couch potato guardian dog 😛 )   What are your Kitties names? Are you planning some house work, like those high kitty shelves, built in scratching post, and some cat passages from one room to another room?
    • Maine Coone, did look at but to big and fluffy As for performance dogs, we had Mals at work, performance dogs are fun to watch, but, way to much work for this old rooster
    • Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.
    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
