The front rims are marked: Offset 30. 18x8JJ FRONT.     3.1822 FRD.      CD100 FZ32.    Tyres are 225/45R18

the rear rims are marked:   Offset 30.  18x8JJ REAR.        3.1823 FRD.      CD 110 FZ 32     Tyres are 245/45 R18

What is different between the front and rear rims  as I have measured several dimensions and they seem identical?

can a rear rim be used safely on the front? And vice versa...

hope someone has the answer as I just bought what I thought were two fronts but have actually been sent one of each!!

cheers Mickel

Cars all over the world are frequently having the wheels rotated front to back to even out tyre wear. I'm thinking a front rim and rear rim is something like a right handed and left handed screwdriver.

You didn't have to measure your rims, they are both 18 inches rims, 8 inches wide with a 30 offset. What were you measuring when you were trying to find discrepancies between the rims?

Looks like the only thing you need to sort out is a matching set of rubber for them.

But if this was just a troll post, good job mate you got me.

No scam Murray"...........so why are the wheel rims stamped rear or front?

the owner's manual refers to different tyre sizes front to rear but doesn't explain anything about rim differences.

This is the famous "why is there a stud that stops me putting the rear wheel on the front?" question.

There is no functional difference except for the tyre size. Nissan put a little stud onto the rear wheel so you couldn't put the fatty on the front, is all. Stud is easily removed, problem goes away.

Thanks for the response GTSBoy, I looked over the rear wheel for the stud but couldn't see one on the rim. Where is it found? Both rims have 225 tyres on them so perhaps the stud was removed by the previous owner?

That would be the logical conclusion and the point to take from my reply.

Google up the search terms - or search on here. Multiple threads on the topic.

Each pair of the wheels are probably from a different batch or a different time when manufactured

Nah. The CD100 and CD110 codes on them are for front and rear. On other similar era cars from the same chassis types, Zs and V Skylines) that had different tyres front and rear, there was also codes like AL400 and AL410. Exactly as I described in my earlier response to the thread. They are different wheels, but only because of the stud to prevent you putting the rears, which carry a fatter tyre, on the front. Seems like a stupid solution to a stupid problem that didn't have to exist. But this was when Nissan was beginning to suck.

Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
