I would be lying if I said I wasn't interested in what MCM were going to do with the NC I really enjoy their banter and occasional collaborations (like Alan from TSF, Ben from BCW, or any of the Haltech guys throwing around their experience), and I have probably watched everything they have put out Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/486007-nc-mx5/page/5/#findComment-7997876 Share on other sites

Milkmun
If it does get a turbo it would blow the JCW Mini out of the water considering how "close" some of the tests were. Then again the Mini would probably get one of them Stage 69 tunes. Kinkstaah
It's actually a really weird comparison... the MX5 is on another level and I kinda question this comparison at all. It'd be closer to compare it to a GTI/Golf/Hatch anything that kicks around. NC MX5 with a turbo has the right to go up with and beat the FD RX7 or 180SX or any other JDM hero car. That's the comparison that would really ruffle feathers. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/486007-nc-mx5/page/5/#findComment-7997917 Share on other sites

Agree, but meh, I think is is based more on LOLS than actually apples to apples, like, who would have thunk a turbo 4 cylinder would not beat a NA 4 cylinder I think with just basic N/A mods, like a exhaust and tune, it would be equal to the Mini in its current form, maybe I know my current 2.5 would "chop the mini" as the midrange now has a night and day difference in power delivery compared to the tuned 2.0, by around 20kwatw and 30nm from around 2k rpm "ish"....... I'm kinda hoping that they do a N/A build, either with the MZR 2.0 or with whatever they decide to use If I recall correctly they did talk about K swapping one a while ago Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/486007-nc-mx5/page/5/#findComment-7997920 Share on other sites
Kinkstaah
It's kind of interesting - They definitely do builds that split the difference between what they like and what will generate views and engagement. The NC Platform always surprises everyone in a good way, in an uncomfortably good way some may say. They could throw a LS in there and arguably have the best (and best performing) car of the entire stable. But that isn't necessarily what draws views, because people viewing don't want to accept the vegetables of a LS NC MX5 being a superior vehicle in every way (including fun) than a RB26 240Z. This is also why there's not a lot of content about the GR Yaris (on the web in general). They're too good, yet 'only a Yaris' The community doesn't want certain cars to be as good as they are - to beat their hero cars, and I believe the NC MX5 is absolutely one of those cars. People don't always want builds that are overly expensive, or have engineering/registration/insurance issues and head aches that come with them Whilst big dollar builds, and complicated stuff is interesting to watch, there is only a tiny % of people who would actually use this information, or have the spare finances to drop on said builds, whereas the buy a cheap(ish) cool car, and make it better, with a average budget, that the average Joe or Jane could achieve will always be a winner in my opinion 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/486007-nc-mx5/page/5/#findComment-7997926 Share on other sites
Kinkstaah
I definitely agree with you there - I never click on content for cars I would never ever be able to get or compete with/against/be seen next to. Seeing a MX5 compete with a FD RX7 will make people upset though, for sure. Even in 2.5L Turbo form which is pretty grass roots. (or at least as grass roots as classic cars can be) Yes we're all classic car owners now. RMS has no say in that. The Bogan
Another new used boot arrived at the painters, it was sent back as there was nearly as much damage as the original one I want to replace Finding a clean used boot lid is proving problematic, and I'm not keen on dropping $1500 on a new one from Mazda Sigh.... Kinkstaah
Not feasible to fix the boot lid you had? Damage looked minor/hard to even see :p Source: Drove into something recently and you should be happy you didn't! 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/486007-nc-mx5/page/5/#findComment-7997968 Share on other sites

Nah, the creases were pretty large, and the sheet metal is pretty thin and hard to work out, time alone is in the hours to fix, and would probably have more bog than I would be happy with In other, more happy news, I gave MX5 Mania a call and they have a few clean boots available for $400 a peice, I've contacted Fineline and given them their contact details, I'm a idiot for not thinking of them sooner 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/486007-nc-mx5/page/5/#findComment-7997973 Share on other sites
