MM2death
Fuel system dude. Check fuel pump. Is it standard? If that's ok then check injectors to see if they are blocked or maybe even maxxing out. Cheers, Scott Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/49799-rb20det-running-too-leanplz-help/#findComment-992538 Share on other sites
TurboX
You have increased all the air flow systems and have not (or the ECU has not ) increased fuel flow. Or maybe it has but you have other issues as well. I would replace the fuel filter as the easy first step, then check the pump filter. Then check your injector duty cycle and fuel pressure.(is it rising with boost?) You did not say what power you were making but it's obviously starting to get well over stock where more fuel is needed to keep the A/F ratio correct. cameron
Yeh mate what were the a/f ratios, what boost you were you running and how much power did you put out ? 4bella
yeah i have a remapped ecu chip which actually has better a/f ration than my previous one as my previous ecu chip was a mines one...i set my boost on 15psi, the guy didnt bother boosting it all the way and revving it all the way coz he said i could blow the engine coz it was alreayd too lean ... yeah the a/f ration was getting more lean as the boost was climbing... so yeah thats wat they guy said it could be my fuel pump or regulator as i have a fuel regulator and its adjusted already to 45psi....so yeah he siad it most probably is the fuel pump....if it is wat pump u reckon i can get ? i was told the bosch 044 is the way to go.... cameron
You answered 1 of my questions, dude its pretty hard to narrow down the problem with out the facts, but from what you have given me it could be a number of things. blocked injectors, fuel pump & too much boost - 15psi is too high for stock fuel system. Try a bosch 044 pump if that doesnt fix your problem then you need bigger injectors or to get them flow tested. 4bella
sorry the a/f on idle was 20, when on, low revs it was on 14/15 then as it was boosting higer and revving higher so did the a/f ratio, it hit 16/17 and they guy dynoing my car stopped coz he said it was too dangerous to push it more...it only hit 180 hp when he stopped it... cameron
a/f ratios of 20 on idle ? should be around 14 on idle. I'd say too much boost (too much air) no enough fuel so its leaning out. so the verdict would be fuel system. try the bigger pump and if that doesnt work your up for injectors. Zahos
I remeber once when I was getting a dyno tune, the sensor used to measure my A/F ratios was stuffed, and I was getting really lean readings. The tuner changed the sensor, which them showed I was running quite rich... could be a possibility...
