i find the BP one is quite good so is the mobile 8000, optimax is my least favorite cause i know how they make it and that it isnt a true 98 RON fuel:( But its still better that ULP:D Avgas with toulene in it goes really good but thats only on special ocassions:uh-huh:

Ok, my truth is....

And dont laugh...

I use a special blend... I have to tell you the secret ingredent or you will all think im crazy using ULP

.. OK ...

1. Nulon Octane Boost & Clean

2. Mobil Regular unleaded

then... wait for it....

3. 500ml of Metho...

The reason is all fuel, no matter where you buy it contains water in it. Maby only 0.2% but its there and it will wear your motor if the quanity gets high... So i use metho to soak the water and as you know metho burns... Allot of spray painters use it.. Because for some reason allot of water seems to get into fuel tanks when their getting painted or baked??? But anyway metho is not good for the engine either but its better than water and is only a tiny proportion.. So then i use Nulon Octane Boost & Clean to lubricate or over compensate the dryness of the metho and it also boosts the octane up to a Premium level at the same time...

I have proven these results at TAFE on a 5 gas analizer...

NOTE: I have included a chart that shows the best octane boost's to use on your car... The Nulon octane boost & clean can be bought at any Super Cheap for $9 per bottle and one bottle lasts 4 tanks... But i use one every two tanks and i get heaps more KM's per tank when using it so it pays for itself... OKIES

troy, is it? tell me more...

yup

WA's fuel regulations for emissions etc are stricker. Which means it is refineded to a greater standard and has less additives so it burns better and works more efficently when compared to other fuels in Aus.

Doc,

just throw in 500mls....

I put it in with a full tank...

But make shaw you put it in last, because metho is a heavy liquid and will work its way to the botom of the tank and will suck any moisture up with it... Okies..

I usually fill to full on the way to wrk and then will throw 500ml in when i get home, as theres no room for metho once the tank is full... Sound easy, well thats cause it is....

Cheers

Colin

I also remember seeing, somewhere, sometime, someone had done some proper testing on the fuels and BP Ultimate was consistently over 98. Optimax is rated up to 98.

i used to use optimax and nothing but for a while. then i used bp and nothing but. result, car still used to work.:)

nah seriously, i've heard so many different stories and tips and whatnot. at the end of the day each car reacts to each fuel differently. some ping more on shell while others ping more on bp. you just have to find the right fuel for you. a knock sensor always helps. that's how i found the right fuel for my old car.

i recal something along those lines too. something about bp having the cleanest & highest octane due to lower additives. they also are the ones that sell the pupl to all the other companies.

    • Did you pay with a credit card? I'd be putting a charge back through then finding a new sparky to sort it out.
    • If you mean the alarm immobiliser; theyre internal to the alarm itself which makes that difficult; I couldnt even see where he put it; its not in the same place as last time; but with all black wiring it might be very challenging to trace  I had someone turn the key for me as I know it only primes for a couple of seconds As my post above; I am getting no voltage to the pump at all; but I am testing continuity of the power line (SB) from the pump plug to the relay fine. As well as the negative from the pump plug to a 12V constant.    Yeah; he blammed the no start on a bad battery; said I needed to get a new battery and it'll start. Turns out the battery drained because the tail lights had been on for half the day during the install (the rubber cushion on the brake switch gave out while he was testing it as I have a picture of the car from that morning with the tail lights off..i've replaced that). The battery was turning over the engine just fine for a long time; but got low since lights were draining it so it was too low to test a start after he finished. I bought a new one on his advice...$250 wasted. My original battery charged up just fine and is healthy.    It was running perfectly fine when I messed up the old alarm (programmed out the remotes). He couldnt start it after removing the old alarm; my assumption is that when he unhooked it; he didnt bridge the circuit back when trying to start it. Its always been perfectly fine. The ECU swap and pump were 2 years ago. It's never missed a beat in that time.
    • This is a big issue for me without the diff. I just have zero drive from the passenger side when drivers side has no traction. Bec's parents place has a crazy steep driveway with odd camber and I have never been able to get up. My bro-in-law's 130i with an (unknown brand) LSD gets up fine as does their dad's Hiace. My car stays at the bottom. We have other odd camber roads around here as we're elevated a bit and if it's raining I can get totally stuck around some hairpins.
    • Yeah, I am super excited for this.
