Hey everyone,

i just got a lil probelm with my car idling unsteadly. I just installed my apexi dual chamber BOV today and i could immediately feel the difference, the car is more shaky and the idling is really unsteady...and sometimes it is about to stall. Although i have heard of it happening before on other cars, would there be any other reason?

The only reason i can think of is that i didn't tighten the screw enough.

But has anyone had the same problem? and how can i fix this? apart from chagnin to stock bov

I know of ppl who have had similar probs, but i never have. And i have used the Apexi BOV and found that it worked well on my RB20.

So, a few questions. If the engine isnt idling properly then am i right in assuming you have a vacuum leak? Now considering how a BOV works there is no way a BOV will leak at idle as there isnt enough force to overcome the spring tension.

Where did you install the Apexi BOV? Std location. How did you plug up the old recirc line from the std BOV. Where are you taking the vacuum/boost line from for the new BOV? I could be wrong but i have never had any idling probs with any BOV, dipiing in the clutch at 4,000rpm and the car stalling yes, but not at idle

well im not quite sure myself..my friend installed it for me as my knowledge of engines is limited..

but i just went down to check my bov rite......is there suppose to be 2 hoses plugged into the side of the apexi BOV or 1? coz i have one i plugged onto the side where u see that black hose in the pic and i found that there was another hose near the BOV that was a vacuum (sucking air) and it was not connected to anything......so im wondering if it is suppose to be attached to the bov and it may have fallen off and making my car idle unsteadly.

Oh and one of the screws on the BOV is a bit loose which i am yet to fix, will that lead to a vacuum leak?

The second pipe would be the plumb back pipe. If the blow off valve is a half atmo and half Plumback. If its like that both should be connected. If its a 100% atmo the plumb back pipeshould be blocked off.

ohhh nooo...not that pipe..i blocked that off already..thats a big asss pipe..

there is another smaller hose which suckz air (vacuum) that is not plugged to anything. That's not plugged to anything, so is there suppose to be 1 or 2 hoses attached to the ATMo bov.....aside from the plumb back one which i have already blocked off

i can easily hear that suckin noise when im sitting in the car.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻

I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
