Yes it's true. I use twin, low-mount T51R-SPL's on a bong-pipe manifold.

Can't believe I never saw this thread, Steve. Ya big goose. Now my secret is out, (well, to the 4 people that actually ever look at this section of SAU anyway).

mate someone swears that a hi-flow was put on ur car before u owned it.....

i give u credit on ur efforts and the fact that ur pushing so hard with ur current setup and running spectacular times....we soley rely on the information that you have provided us.....i just dont want to see others take ur path and be mislead because the information wasnt exactly true......

im not having a go at you....i just want to decifer whose spinning shit cause this is a pretty big ingredient to ur sucess if it was true....an easy reply would be "i have taken the turbo off and it is in fact standard"....OR " i havent taken the turbo off there could be some truth to it"....... so dont get so offended u dinky di gong bong boy :jump:

nv033,

The person who told you is missinformed....errrr spinning sh*t actually.

I owned the nitrous kit (parts of) that the car now runs before 2rismo bought the kit and I can tell you that my old GTS-T was quicker than my R32 gtr is once the gas was on. If you look at his times without gas they are on par with what some of the gtst stocker turbo owners have been getting with good tyres. I ran low 13's in my old gtst without gas, so the times are ok.

He is contributing to the knowledge base by recording his efforts for everyones benifit. He hasn't needed to go to boost over 13 psi because nitrous does the extra shove. With conservative boost there is no reason to 'need' a steel exhaust wheel in your turbo.

I have not had the exhaust dropped and seen the exhaust wheel.

I do know that George (previous owner) didn't change the turbo.

I do know that Paul G. (the original Australian registered owner and the guy who spent the majority of the money on it) didn't change the turbo or blow it up for that matter.

Unless the person you're talking to worked at SSS Automotive and snuck a free exhaust wheel upgrade onto a 2nd hand RB25DET motor they sold Paul when he popped the 1st motor, I think someone's spinning you some real powerful shit.

===========================================

Here's the whole story:

- Car arrives in Aus circa 1999.

- Big Boys Toys comply and register it.

- B.B.T. then sell it to Paul G who decides to circuit race the car in the Porsche club of which he is/was a member.

- Factory fuel pump shits itself at or around turn one at Oran Park Raceway - leans out motor and melts lots of interal goodies.

- Replacement motor is purchased from SSS Automotive in Sydney (as evidenced by the SSS barcode on the timing belt cover - anyone with one of their replacement motors will know what I mean.

- Motor fitted, tuned and raced by Paul until he sold it to George (two40) who, much like myself, couldn't afford to own it.

- Car sold to me in exactly the same condition and spec as when the replacement motor was originally fitted.

- Car raced by me ever since.

==========================================

The amazing thing is that if this person is fair dinkum, they're not really showing their talents as a turbo reconditioner/modifier as I am running within 1/10's of a mph of the other std turbo guys when I'm not using the gas.

Either I have, as you say, a steel turbine wheel that must be the WORST reco ever done on the factory Hitachi unit and makes it every bit as good as the FACTORY turbine

OR

It is stock as a rock and my times and mph can be explained by the use of gas and a SHITLOAD of practice and learning "on the job".

I'll let you all decide but it really is as simple as this: Using gas adds about 9mph to my T.S. taking it from about 107mph to 116-117mph. If I was running that speed through the traps in an LX Torana on slicks, I should be running 10.8 - 11.2.

At the end of the day, I have had more than 80 passes at WSID this year and as per previous posts i've made, my results have gone from less than spectacular to something I'm quite proud of.

Thankyou.

Adrian

Mate, 'someone' who thinks they saw 'something' in a magazine counts for very little. Especially considering the 'someone' I may or may not be referring to. Burgundy R33 GTS-T's are as common as dog-shit and you know it.

4 Door Green GTS-T's aren't however - so if you see one getting chopped on the freeway....well......it's probably you ;)

the thing that gave it away was ur bonnet....im pretty sure no other burgandy gtst has it....its pretty unique in that sense....

quote from Mr Spin Shit "Ive seen that ugly bonnet before....isnt it that whiteline car?"

i replied..."his a mate....beleive it or not his turbo is standard...his ran a 11.9 with gas"

Mr Spin Shit "Bullshit its standard the turbo was sent away to gcg to get rebuilt"

i replied" with what...could it be one of those stage upgrades they do?"

Mr Spin Shit "not quite sure"

I replied " Really?...i dont think his had the turbo off before...could be some interesting news"

GO FIGA!

" with what...could it be one of those stage upgrades they do?"

From what I here, GCG do better work than upgrading standard turbos to make them exactly as good as a stock standard one so I'm not sure what he's getting at?!?! Jealousy's a curse, mate. I say fu(k him.

    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
    • My experience with Rising Sun Exports Before agreeing to the sale I tried to do as much research as I could (obviously), his Facebook reviews are 98% and he goes Live at least once or twice a week. I contacted 2 people in the UK who had used him for their imports, both had positive feedback. His explanation and talk through of the import process was thorough, answering any query no matter how stupid it was. It felt as soon as the money was sent, communication dropped off. I asked for shipping updates every 2 weeks or so, not wanting to pester him, he never had any updates. I wasn't informed the car had been dropped off at the port, I only found out by his Facebook story. I asked for the photos taken at the port, knowing he would need some for insurance purposes. I received a few 5 second clips and that's it. When asked again, he said his staff had them. Weeks later I asked again, he tells me he doesn't have any, but does have 50 photos from the original advert. I never received them. I eventually got the documents sent via WhatsApp after I mentioned the port was requesting them. I purchased a CarVX report, to find out the vehicle is a Grade R with recorded accident damage, first recorded in 2017 when it was first auctioned. He never told me the grade, then again I didn't ask. His response was "Grade R means nothing, it wasn't chassis damage". Still, I would have liked to have been informed about it. Jon prides himself on being open and honest when it comes to inspecting cars, it's his main job doing so at the auctions for customers. When the vehicle arrived in the UK I noticed a few little cosmetic issues. It's a 21 year old car so it wasn't going to be mint condition. The side skirts are cracked on each corner and the sealant is failing. The front grill on the bonnet/hood isn't secured very well, mounting studs are missing. Both minor things, but again, it would have been nice to be told. During a Facebook Live walk around video of the vehicle, he mentioned it has a front Whiteline anti roll bar/sway bar. While on the inspection ramp, I noticed the stock item has been installed. When first questioned, his response was "the ARB? Switched? Since when, it never had them". Since sending video and photo evidence I've not received a response. I'm probably being over critical of the overall condition of an old car, but all I wanted was honesty (which he claims to have). I'm aware I wasn't his only customer, he's busy doing XYZ but other reviews praise him for great communication with regular updates and photos, I felt I didn't receive the same treatment.
    • I was able to get some underside photos while the car was on the ramp The suspension is all Altezza/IS200/IS300 so getting part's will hopefully be less of a headache
