Hey, I have an 86' Pintara GXE. And I want to upgrade the engine to an rb20det. Is that the best engine to go with for this car? It's got the ca20e in it now (i think? im not a huge car engine know it all person). I just wanna know what else will need to be done if i upgrade to this engine and how much you think its going to cost me. I'll need someone to install it too. If you can give me a price range, that'd be awsome...

This isnt just your usual crap Pintara either, it's a nice one and I might be able to get some pic's for ya. So I dont want anyone tellin me I'm wastin my time. Any help would be greatly appreciated guys, thanks in advance.

yeah, that would be me. I think it would be worth doing, and it doesn't matter what other people think. As long as you love your car. You will be looking at around $1800 for a r32 halfcut. Then You will need to modify your engine mounts a bit which unless you know what your doing, you will have to get them done professionally. Then get then drop then engine in and it will cost around a $1000 for the engine to be wired etc.

here's some pics of my 86' Pintara

Have you got any pics of yours?

yes that definately right. You will be looking at around $500 for the hr31 struts and hubs. I was fortunate enough to pick mine up for $250. You can use r32 gts-t or gt-r rotors and calipers which are bolt on and i've seen them sell for round 200-250 mark for just the front..

Is it hard? or hard to get someone to do it? I'm about to manual convert my (RB30) Pintara and only found out in the last few weeks that the manual crossmembers are different...sounds like fun :S

Back on topic...theres quite a few RB20 Pintara's going around.

Yeah, this one has power steering.

I got some pics i took the other day, car went in to get some stuff done on it... and they took it for a quick test drive and someone crashed into my car

It's getting fixed now, going to take about 2 weeks to repair.

Not real good ones of the general overview of the car, but that's all i have right now.

Depends how handy you are! It'd certainly cost a few hundred to get someone to make one for you.If you can weld/oxy,then a custom Xmember is only half a day's work away :P

Hey I think I've seen your car before, I had to take a second look cos I thought it was a silo.

Thanks :) If my mate can't manage to do it then I guess I can take it somewhere.

    • Hi all, Long time since I've posted here. Looking for some advice on what I can remove to further identify the cause of my issues.  I can move the passenger seat forward and back but the knob used to adjust the seat angle is pretty much free spinning, there's very little resistance.  Removing the side cover I can see that the chain is intact but the shaft for the adjustment spins without the gear attached to it moving.  What's my next step for disassembly here? Is this a common fault? Just being a little cautious as I didn't want to start removing bolts for a spring to fly out or something equally as stupid.  Cheers
    • Those above shitboxes, mediocre and above usually have a turbo strapped to them, hence the slightly higher octane is required.
    • Hi all,   long time listener, first time caller   i was wondering if anyone can help me identify a transistor on the climate control unit board that decided to fry itself   I've circled it in the attached photo   any help would be appreciated
    • I mean, I got two VASS engineers to refuse to cert my own coilovers stating those very laws. Appendix B makes it pretty clear what it considers 'Variable Suspension' to be. In my lived experience they can't certify something that isn't actually in the list as something that requires certification. In the VASS engineering checklist they have to complete (LS3/NCOP11) and sign on there is nothing there. All the references inside NCOP11 state that if it's variable by the driver that height needs to maintain 100mm while the car is in motion. It states the car is lowered lowering blocks and other types of things are acceptable. Dialling out a shock is about as 'user adjustable' as changing any other suspension component lol. I wanted to have it signed off to dissuade HWP and RWC testers to state the suspension is legal to avoid having this discussion with them. The real problem is that Police and RWC/Pink/Blue slip people will say it needs engineering, and the engineers will state it doesn't need engineering. It is hugely irritating when aforementioned people get all "i know the rules mate feck off" when they don't, and the actual engineers are pleasant as all hell and do know the rules. Cars failing RWC for things that aren't listed in the RWC requirements is another thing here entirely!
    • I don't. I mean, mine's not a GTR, but it is a 32 with a lot of GTR stuff on it. But regardless, I typically buy from local suppliers. Getting stuff from Japan is seldom worth the pain. Buying from RHDJapan usually ends up in the final total of your basket being about double what you thought it would be, after all the bullshit fees and such are added on.
