I'd like some opinions please  will all the tossers lately in trying to source am R34 GTR, we're sort leaning towards a "so called" equivalent eg: coupe, comfortable 4seater, has some presence...blah blah blah. The only thing we could think of is a CL500, but after speaking to a few mates, they reckon its an old mans car  .??? But after slapping on some 19/20" inch brabus wheels will it still look like an old mans car?

sorry to say, it is an old mans car

out of the merc range, i would take an SL65/55 AMG anyday. that has to be on the best looking big convertibles ever, a beast! AND faster than a 911 turbo convertible (might come in handy)

although, if i were after something with room/boot, i would choose an E55 AMG.

if only they offered manuals eh ;)

Bass that's a classic line. , but I've just turned 30 and the bro is 33.. so dunno if we are classified old - though sometimes I feel it.

sikII (an E55 you reckon.. hmmm now there's a nice car ;) ), you're right about depreciation, the only reason we really thought about it, is because a dealer we know may have one, at a pretty good price.

They dont look so bad if you throw abit of money at them, but stock they dont really draw attention because of the paint colours mercedes used, to me they just look like any other Mercedes Benz id see in the city.

The rims are 11x20 ET36 and the tires are 285/25, front wheels are 10x20 ET36, 255/30

If you were after a merc SL55 amg, my unlce has one.......fastes auto to 300 in the world. BUT ITS AN OLD MAN CAR!!!!! get the 34 mesh

SL55, they're for the really really really rich folk. I dunno if we have a lazy 400K lying around.. hang on let me have a look.

Looking...

Still Looking...

Hang on I think I found something...

:dump: .. Nah just a big turd.

PS: The SL55 is not the fastest anymore, so tell your uncle to trade it in for an SLR

That LARS K one looks damn nice, but I certainly wouldn't be paying that much money for a SOHC engine. I haven't been in one, but I do hear they go quite nicely. I'd still take the R34 though.

Kind of off topic, but it involves luxury cars. My dream car is a Toyota Aristo V300 Vertex Edition (Lexus GS300 with a VVTi 2JZ-GTE). I was considering buying a locally delivered GS300 and dropping the V300 engine in, but it was a bit out of my price range. It's not a coupe though, so it's not really what you're after. I'm not too sure why I even mentioned it

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
