13 devil

just buy a bigger turbo

turbo back zaust

coilies

and a ecu

u will have 320+ hp then and why would u only havin your license for a short time want/need any more power than that for a street car?

your still gonna be limited NO MATTER what u do to about 350hp because u dont have forgies etc so why bother?

when u can afford it build a strong rb25 or just buy a rb26 straight out and put that in

cheaper..

tj, i never said i was going for that amount of power or that was the reason for doing the swap. (i was just telling Roy wat i read in a mag)

Scarifier, cheers for the reply, im not really looking for a hp figuer as such i would be happy with around 200 to 250rwhp (i cant even make that at the moment :P ) Im just looking for a different way to get power, high reving etc.

i will admit my research into putting the head on was limited and i didnt think the cost would be as huge as steve mention.

thanks everyone for replys :)

Push the stock setup to its edge via an ecu, exhaust, fmic & fuel pump.

Then look at a thicker headgasket/injectors to drop the comp ratio and a bigger turbo to push upwards to 300rwkw.

The RB25 is a good motor.. If you had an RB20 then it would be a total different story.

EDIT: There's nothing wrong with dreaming.

Just under 3years ago I used to dream about an RB30DET.

It eventually came true. :)

Just don't let it affect your studies from day dreaming. :P

You're kidding right? An RB25 will put about 175-180hp to the ground stock. Mine has turbo back HKS exhaust, K&N panel filter, FMIC and 10PSI on the stock turbo and has been Dyno'd at 227.2 RWHP. A SAFC and a little tuning would push this up round 250 easy as it has stock ECU and runs as rich as a Packer over 5000rpm.

All up it's cost me about $2K for the mods and I am currently saving for a PowerFC because I'm not all that happy with the band-aid SAFC approach.

Use your head pal, listen to people who know more than you... or don't, it's your money you will be pissing away.

PTR33, my car doesnt have a stock turbo, the front is a vg20 which is much smaller than a stock r33 turbo, i have had the car dyno @ 0.6bar and it made 194rwhp, on stock boost it made 187rwhp,

i ama running hks exhuast (cat-back), air filter, r34 gt-t cooler, bov and got ebc

so plz dont say im kidding cuz im not, i have the dyno sheet to prove my 194rwhp

I dont follow that? If we were talking NA then i may agree, but i thought it all goes out the window when you introduce forced induction.

Sorry, 'lower boost' is a bit misleading. I should have said 'lower pressure difference'. The flow bench measures by creating a vacum, so I don't really have any idea how it will perform under boost but we do have a good idea. My head porter follows the theory of making it flow as well as you can NA, then throw boost at it. You don't *need* to do anything special when boost is involved, but the extra effeciency makes the difference. It's sound in principle . Do you think the F1 teams didn't do the same thing back in the 80's?

We have done a GTR and GTS back to back on the same turbo (GT30)The RB26 needed 5PSI more boost to make the same power as the GTS , but remove the 6 throttle bodys and the 26 show their tru form.

Thats interesting. :P

Were all other aspects equal? Exhaust system, (cat in place), intercoolers, cams?

If the GTST was running a nice big aftermarket Trust / HKS IC and the GTR running the std intercooler, then with a slightly more restrictive exhaust...could this perhaps account for the differences?

Just being sure the comparison is fare ... oh and boost was measure in the same place on both cars:)

We have done major testing and all other factors equal even some in favour of the RB26 the 25 still makes the power easyer. This is why we made our single kits.

This will become another of those threads that turns dark so just come in and we can show you the graphs and even some cars that very much prove this fact.

    • Thanks mate, couldn't find in VIC, ended up ordering one from NSW, getting rwc to get new plates and registration done.
    • Before all the EFR fan boys come in, have a look at: https://www.garrettmotion.com/racing-and-performance/performance-catalog/turbo/g-series-ii-g30-825-58mm/ It also comes in a T4 1.06 divided housing. I would dare say if you want response & also decent power, this thing would chop.   AND apologies, just re-read your post, you've already bought the turbo... whatever you do, make sure you stick with divided housing and proper twin scroll manifold.
    • People have got to stop doing that. ShatGPT is not a search engine. It is a hallucination factory.   I also would recommend the 1.05. The .83 will "work" for you , in that it will be more responsive, but I think you'll find that it won't be anywhere near as good running it out to 8000rpm as the big housing will be.
    • Decided for the first time ever I would tow my car TO the track day on the same working theory as bringing tools and spares "if I have it I wont need it, but if I leave it behind i will 100% need it" all setup and ready to go out and try these A050 for the first time First session showed I needed to stiffen up the dampers a touch but still managed a few 1:21's without much effort. things were looking good. Came in a dropped the tyres down  to 26/28 as they had gotten to 35/33C from 22C cold The first lap of session two I managed to drop into 1:20's. Then in the second lap into the second session. Coming into T3 and I suddenly lost brake pedal followed by some huge rear end vibrations and scraping sounds. Got it back into the pits after session ended and found this. in the attached video, all of the wobble is in the hub its self, wheel is mint, and bearing feels tight. lKXLqpd - Imgur.mp4   Deciding it was a bent spindle I tried to find bearing/hub assembly locally but was unsuccessful so it was loaded back onto the trailer i luckily brought it on to drag it back home
