There was supposed to be some getting set up on the M4 west of sydney around May this year for a 1 month trial where ofenders were issued a warning during the first month and then straight into full use.

I can only guess that it never happened because i would definately have received something by now.

Nah, he'd probably just be involved in a crash caused by one of the numerous other, almost un-enforced dangers of driving, or by someone who is either too busy watching their speedo to notice traffic, or is of the growing-in-popularity mentality that if they're not speeding, nothing can happen to them.

Isn't Victoria's road toll the highest in years, despite having harsher than ever speed enforcement?

You mean those SAFE-T-CAM things??

i remember one of the first times i did a long trip, i had no idea what they were so i slowed to the speed limit thru each one...realised later they were for trucks

another dumb idea about making money. imagine if you dont have cruise control... or even with it...high stress freeway driving!

*oh no i am going 125 instead of 110 down this hill, better brake suddenly and cause a 40 car pileup because all the mums in falcons behind me are tailgating*

every time i have driven along the m4 during the day i have been tailgated, never by p platers majority of the time by females in large sedans. scary.

  • 4 weeks later...

The Point to Point speed cameras are already on the M4 in sydney between the cumberland Highway overpass and the bridge that goes over church street. They arent very easy to spot though, on the cumberalnd highway overpass, they are almost tucked up under the advertisement sign on the bridge, as you approach look up, your on camera :). they look like the digital cameras in the bottom pic of the below link. The second set of cameras is on the existing safe-t-cam and variable speed limit sign framework just on the beginning of the bridge over church street. As the site mentions the cameras are only on the eastbound route. Theyve been very tricky about installing these cameras and hiding them, and legally they need not add extra signage drawing attention to them as they use the speed camera warning signs for the cumberland overpass speed cameras to cover their asses (hence only eastbound). They really didnt want anyone knowing what they were up to till its too late, as the website states they will be activated ~june 2005.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.
    • My Nismo 1.5 churps a bit on reverse turns when cold, but besides that feels like a stock diff.
    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
