Roy is exactly right. DC is a great RACE driver, just too poor in quali. I too hope he gets the drive alongside webber, but it's looking a bit shaky. Williams are on a push to find the drivers of tomorrow, not those of yesterday. I think in reality they want someone young that Webber can groom for them, so that this 'second' driver can be world champ in a few years time. Pizzonia is a knob and I seriously think it would be a mistake to pick him as Webber team mate, especially with the unproffesional attituted he displayed towards his former team and team mate.

Anyway, who else is going to Melb F1? I've booked my Brabham grandstand tickets and accomodation and flights are all booked and paid for too. Now I've just got to fill in time between now and March...

All drooling aside- I hope DC gets a drive next season. It looks like he still might have a chance at one of the spots with Red Bull Racing?

Hey Richard, what have you organised for Melb? I am pushing to do the Grand Prix rally next year (if the GTR is back on the road). Failing that, I'm sure to be making my way down there anyway.

Personally, I think DC is a waste of space.

He comes out EVERY year saying, "I know I was crap last year, but this year will be my year", and never delivers. The only thing Coulthard is useful for is the experience, and Williams have enough of that already. Coulthard would be ideal for a team like Red Bull so he can pass on his knowledge of the tracks/setups etc before he retires in the not too distant future.

It really puzzles me as to who Williams are going to recruit as "driver 2" as there isn't much more talent out there. Heidfeld was thrown around before, but I'm guessing he's staying at Jordan since Briscoe didn't get the drive... Pizzonia is unprofessional as was said before, and Alex Davidson seems to get over looked every year.

Anyway, my 2c (at work and bored), but I look forward to next year and yes, I'm going to Melbourne too! Accomodation is booked, working on flights and tickets.

yeah what a hunk of man... mmm coulthard. (umm no.)

I've (well my gf did actually) booked some brabham grandstand tickets, flights (virgin) down from sydney on 3/3/05 and leaving melbs on 7/3/05. Staying in Carlton (stayed in city last year, but nice to be close to Lygon street where all the action is post Ferrari win)...

Last year I went with three mates but they are all too cheap to come this year (well ones in Japan) so this year I'm bringing my better half. Told her she needs to hear an F1 V10 at least once in her life before they change to V8s *sniff.

Yeah, you guys have to do the GP rally. only problem is duncans such a crap driver. maybe you and I should do it in duncans GTR (the rally that is)...

Richard

I thought JPM would have been more your type

:uhh:  I'm not even going to touch that one

My girlfriend thinks wahn is the sh1t but less so after she gets five bucks on him every race, and I get five on schui. ha ha needless to say, I'm nicely cashed up at seasons end...

Kel, you have a dirty mind... reading something into everything. :)

Yeah, Roy has made noises about southern hospitality before, perhaps a dinner somewhere central one night is in order?

Richard

Roy, I'll be offended if you don't let me sample your TDO6 sporting RB20 powered R32... :P:D

Ummm I didn't have enough time to read whole thread.

Just saw an interview on RPM with Webber.

He's currently with Williams and they don't know who the team-mate will be and Jenson Button was a favourite cept it couldn't happen.

He's testing the car right now with Antonio.

-JJ

Didn't webber come across poorly in that interview this arvo....must have been a busy week or something.

Hey Roy, how'd JV go in those races...I've been a bit out of contact? He didn't show himself to be an overhyped talentless no-hoper did he?

LOL...that makes you the nominated driver of the booz bus and ensuring all the pi55 heads get home in 1 piece:)

woo hoo.. I mean d'oh. I don't know what I mean? so much conflict...

Duncan on webber interview:

I thought he was 'ok'. One thing was interesting was seeing how he twitched when the talk turned to pizza boy and who will be his teamate next year. and whislt fielding those questions he was blinking about 30 times a minute which is strange for someone who only blinks around 5 times a lap... :) He said: "i don't (blink) know who (blink, blink) my teamate will be next year (blink X 10)."

very funny.

yeah, oz GP will rock.

    • Wife wanted basket things in the wardrobe in our temporary house. Thought about ripping our the wardrobe and fitting the entire IKEA set, but it's a temporary house and we want to move in a few years. So IKEA advertises this as a 50cm unit, however the actually basket and rails measure 46cm wide. Only issue was depth, IKEA stuff is quite deep, where as the builder special junk is super shallow at less than 40cm. Send it, chopped the rails, then offset the mounting holes, job done, happy wife, less shit scattered all over the bedroom. Did the same to the other side too. Also drove the Skyline shit box today, dropped off oil at Supercheap Auto. I didn't realise they only now take max 2x bottles per visit. I visited 2x Supercheap Autos.
    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
