Mine should be here tomorrow or thursday i'm so happy!!!!

Hopefully with no nasty surprises though (i.e. stuff stolen while it was on the wharf)

Does anybody know what your options are if stuff has been taken? Other than just bearing it?

You've probably sorted this out already, but for those who read this thread, you don't actually apply for the DEH exemption until the car has arrived in country. Your application is made through Customs. You'll need your letter and either a copied passport or JP'd driver's licence copy. It doesn't cost you anything either.

More info on DEH and aircon here:

Mark

Actually it cost me $18 in a storage fee... but when you have to pay $2,600 for shipping what's $18?

Sorted very easily.

Sorted very easily.

Just so other people don't get confused, the $18 storage fee is charged by the shipping company as your car was not cleared (for obvious reasons). No fee is charged by the DEH.

Richard: Any word on your car?

nothing other than that it is still 'in transit' from Brisbane to Sydney. Needless to say on this issue my expectation of service has not been met.

oh well.

Richard

:(

Call of the day. :) Have any of your expectations of service been met during the import process? I know mine weren't. In fact I am not sure the word "service" has much relevance.

Arrr well, got my fingers crossed mate. Do let us all know how things progress.

haha. yeah, that was the nicest possible way I could put it.

To be honest up 'till this point my expectations were met or exceeded. The only f**kups to date were:

1. delay of ship due to bad weather and problems at NZ ports

2. f**k around with trucking car from Brisbane to Sydney

other than that everything has gone smoothly.

Hopefully the car will arrive this week. we'll see.......

You sound like you got away pretty lucky. I don't want to start off counting the number of f*ck-ups and times i've been pissed off, and my car is still on its way here :s

I did find out my car is on the Hual Tramper ETA Feb 24th so at least that's some good news.

Well importing was a pain in the ass but i have found some goodies that werent on the advert..

namely impul ecu, non stock injectors (theyre purple top?), z32 afm's, oil cooler, greddy exhaust temp guage..

The turbos were replaced with stock items in japan by the supplier (name mentioned in this thread earlier) as 'they were not working properly'

I really doubt the turbos were stock but i cant prove it so i wont say any more on the matter..

So guys, just hang in there and hope for some goodies :P

yeah same here, although I don't think my exhaust or ECU is aftermarket, have to wait for the compliance servicing to finish this week for a full report on the car

I'll get a pic up as soon as I can, been flat out at work this week

My car is arriving today :(

It is being delivered straight to my complience shop.

Had some major stuff ups with trying to pick the thing up from brisbane. The transport company tried to pick the car up on 3 different days, but the dick at the gate of the wharf kept saying that the car was not released, even though i had the papers, my customs agent, the shipping company and i even rang the wharf directly who all said it was released. everyone seemed to know this except the guy at the front gate. Eventually i had i guy from patricks call the fellow at the front gate and told him to release the car. The transport company was really good about it, they didn't charge me for the waiting time on the 3 occasions they had to visit and and patricks waived the storage fees cause it was their f#*k up.

The transport company said everthing looks in good condition, no damage/theft except for the GTR badge at the back which someone has tried to steel and broken it!

does anyone know were I can find out when the "Hual Trekker" ship gets to australia and where I dont like the sound off "Hual Tramper ETA Feb 24th" in neil_se mesg

i have 4 units on this ship due to arrive brisbane on the 22/2....

ETA means just that..estimated...as long as it does not go to NZ first .. it shouldn`t be a problem

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
