D'day ppl,

just a bit of a ? mark...

i was told that if u want to use the cigg lighter as ur accesories connection to light up urs gauges,

you could jst link the connections [eg 3 gauges' backlite to the one cigg lighter's acc wire] and then earth them.... together if you liked....

and so that the fuse doesnt break due to the demand on curreent, i was advice to uprate the fuse, eg cig lighter = 15A... uprated to a 25+A..

wat u guys reckon... sounds like a plan or like a fire hazzard?

cheers

If you could type in correct english, people might understand what you are saying and be more willing to help.

It should be no problem as long as the wiring is thick enough. Many times I have used slightly stronger rating fuses than you're supposed to* when its all I've had available. Usually when there is a short it will blow whatever fuse anyhow, and it will do its job.

A few times I've had problems and kept blowing 15a fuses, so ran out of 15a, so had to use 30a.. then the 30a's started popping :D then I fixed the problem!

What are you hooking your lights up to your cig lighter for????, you should hook them up to a headlight/parker wire so that your gauge lights come on when you turn your lights on. You don't want them on all the time the ignition is on.

Anyway you don't have to change the fuse at all, if you don't use the cig lighter and the lights at the same time. Anyway, most of the backlights on gauges are = 2 watts per bulb, or about 0.2 watts per diode. They draw very few amps [what is it e=ir, com'n sparkies]. A cig lighter draws heaps more.

As long as the wiring you are taking off for your gauge has thick enough wiring for the current it is drawing there should be no problems.

Current overdraw is what can cause wires to melt, heat-up or at worse cause a fire.

so if i have my instrument lights on and them decide to lite a cigaret... wat would hapen? break fuse, fire, blow my gauge bulds?

Im looking at replacing the std bulds that come with the new gauges to the NARVA Blue LED replacement... is that a transmash?

cheers

What size are the globes in the gauges? 5W? That's less than half an amp each. So you're pulling 1.5 amps (for 3 gauges) through a 15 amp fuse - what danger is there in that?

The only problem with using the cig lighter power is that your gauges' lights will be on whenever the ignition is on.

you can easily run a wire from the drivers side parker wire, through the drivers side hole in the firewall and up through to wherever your guages are.

Hey JC, ther are easier ways my friend.

Hey, I like your line, I pass it most days going to/from work!!

I also live near the 'station', but am constantly amazed that your beautiful 'Line hasn't been 'clipped' yet!!! (is your line burgandy??) if not, sorry mate!!

I drive a white version of yours (with the black wheels), and live just down from you!! (I think).

Get the wire from the fuse box,... ie. less wire then less chance of short circuits due to length of wire potentially touching the chassis somewhere in its travels!! (I guess!!)

Mark.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
