Oh yeah...

Done for too low (go the adjustables) - major

was pretty good about it all, the cop said, "you weren't driving like a dickhead... you've been really civil... i can see you look after the car..."

told me that i should check (but not written down on the defect):

1. exhaust vol tested

2. a non-convex mirror on the drivers side

3. check the load rating of the tyres (RE55s)

4. number plate moved

Nice guy all in all... and the best part - loved the car and didn't give me teh $165 fine!!

not a bad outcome, methinks

That sux man... where and when did you get defected??? I'm worried every time I drive my car now ;)

got defected coming back from tai-pan yum cha today along doncaster rd. Was turning off blackburn into doncaster toward the city, he was turning from donny to blackburn and did a lap and chased me down about 5 mins later... but what surprised me was that he had already called in a plate check and knew my name and address...

dayum

but you didnt get raped that badly.....

yeah too easy really... i actually said to him, "good timing as i'm pulling out the front shocks today to get them rebuilt"... which is why the car is now on jack stands in the garage...

will send them up to www.shockreco.com.au and then raise it and get the defect cleared at vicroads - too easy.

Don't even need a roadworthy ;)

Good to hear you came across a nice cop.

My thoughts are why did he pull you over since u were being sensible and all?

Is it simply the recent "lets pull over imports / round tail light cars and give them a once over" rule??

Very frustrating knowing that a skyline owner has a much greater chance than any other car of being pulled over for a random check for no particularly reason at all ;)

I too know all about this having been pulled over while driving home in peak hour traffic for purposes of going over the car. Didn't get a defect or anyhting and the officer was an ok bloke but it begs the question why was i targetted for no apparent reason and for how long will this continue??

Anyway it's great that u don't have to get a rwc and so u won't be incovenienced to a great extent ;)

yup you need a flat faced mirror on drivers side. bl with the sticker,  but good the cop wasnt an ass

what i don't get is... was Nissan Aust too lazy to change them when they did the oz delivered ones?

what i don't get is... was Nissan Aust too lazy to change them when they did the oz delivered ones?

They were changed, on both sides. It is very strange that you do not have them.

I suspect it has just been replaced at some time in the car's life.

Ronin 09 you dont happen to have personal no. plates?

saw a nice looking black R32 in camberwell today (near evans pl.) that also had a defect notice stuck onto its windscreen

umm... yes, that'd be me... saw a movie yesterday at Rivoli ;)

that was 20 mins after the defect - and he almost made us miss the movie!

lol marcus

why do they waste our time so? its not like we find it hard to get rid of the yellow stickers.

sometimes i think we should have more rights as motorists when it comes to being pulled over for a "random checkup"

i bet about 5 rusty old fords with drum brakes all round went past and he didnt even batter an eyelid.

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn
