Decided I'm no longer going to turbo my R31, and instead put the money to better use on my other car. So have all the following VL Turbo parts available.. most of them are all that is required for a turbo conversion on rb30e.

Not very negotiable on prices, as I know these can be difficult to track down, and it took me a while.

$150 RB30ET std. injectors

$150 RB30ET auto ecu (will work in manual fine)

$200 RB30ET manifold

$100 RB20DET piping + stock intercooler

These will be useful if you're going to use a stock VL T3 turbo:

$70 RB30ET Crossover

$60 RB30E cast dump pipe from turbo.

Strap these to an RB30E and push 130rwkw+ in your R31.. A nice match for any stock R32 or R32

All are in VGC. Can provide photos if you are really interested.

Number is 0417 016 326..

Please advise this dumb ass old fart how you get 130rwkw strapping on all the VL turbo bits when the VL turbo was only rated at 150Kw from the factory.

It is my understanding that a loss of between 20 & 30% was expected to be lost through the drive train.

This would result at the absolute best 120, but more likely 100-105rwkw.

Cheers.

higher compression in the RB30E vs ET - keep the boost about 7-9 psi and you will make 130 easily. it's only 160-170 at the flywheel, not that much really.

there is another, different way to make 130rwkw on an RB30E, that is exactly my power output and i am pushing a whopping 3psi. can you figure it out?

A bit off the track for a moment, but I have an MR30 Hatch, L24E with 8.5:1 comp, planning to transfer all my HR30 turbo bits onto it, including stock ECU or go with a Microtech piggy back system on original L24E ECU.

If non intercooled, how high can the boost be and am I going to benefit by fitting a bigger T03 turbo.

The L20ET engine has an T03 but only .47 rear housing, yet I have a T03 from an FJ20 that is identical other than a .87 rear housing.

Is the L24ET going to benefit by the larger turbo?

er this is not really the place for turbo discussion.. I don't want to be drawn into a why or why not.. but it is fairly common.

back on topic: all of the above is sold except the crossover and the intercooler.

I have ended up with effectively a VL Turbo which I need running on my R33 Skyline ASAP, and its designed to have the wastegate in the dump pipe. I take it you have sold the dump pipe?

Hi Stocky,

You did not open up as to how you got 130 rwkw on a RB30e at 3 psi boost?

Can only assume you are using some sort of supercharger?

For us 'dummies' please tell all - as 80 rwkw in NA form is what I have now & the attraction of a 60+% increase without going turbo is intriguing!

Cheers,

Richard

    • Ok I get you. But isn’t the butterfly intake a headache with the +T?  see this is my plan so far but please advise me into the right direction.  Nistune Ecu, 1000cc Bosch injectors, TD05 or TD06 Kinugawa turbo using stock rb25det exhuast manifold, walbro fuel pump unsure of model I think it’s 450/460, spitfire coils and sparks to suit and a R35 MAF sensor and boost sensor.    I was thinking maybe do a cheap eBay plenum $400-500 or try find a stock det neo intake. I think I’d port match it so it’s getting the full capacity but open to advice please.  Thanks
    • The issue now is the 'fuel cut' while driving, and when it happend, it does not stall. This, I did not test the fuel pressure while driving as I cannot with a fuel pressure gauge. I do have Nistune logs, yes. I have also replaced the MAF Sensor.   Also related to the FPG Fuel Hanger – I just realized that I need a Deutsch Crimp Tool to crimp some cables for the FPG Fuel Hanger. Need to purchase additional cables as the kit only included 2, which are for the float. FPG has not responded to my emails so far since purchasing. I thought about taking it to someone and having it done professionally, but I am reluctant since everyone I took it to messed up in some way.
    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
